If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I'll be honest with you - the whole process is pretty intimidating when you've never done it before. But thousands of people file every week so it can't be that impossible. Just take it one step at a time and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help me understand this.

We've all been there! This community is great for getting support when dealing with Washington ESD stuff.

Last tip - keep track of all your passwords and login info for SecureAccess Washington. If you get locked out of your account it's a huge pain to get back in, and you need to file those weekly claims every week without fail.

Good point! I'll write everything down in a safe place.

Smart! And maybe set a calendar reminder for Sunday evenings to file your weekly claim so you don't forget.

Just remember if you do run into any issues that require talking to ESD directly, don't waste weeks trying to call them. Services like claimyr exist for a reason - the phone system is overwhelmed and you can save yourself a lot of stress.

I'll definitely keep that in mind if I need to contact them. Hopefully everything goes smoothly though!

Best of luck with your claim! The unemployment system in Washington is actually pretty good once you figure out how to navigate it. Just be patient and persistent.

Thanks! I'm feeling much more prepared now thanks to everyone's help.

If you run into any issues getting through to Washington ESD during the process, don't hesitate to use services like Claimyr to help you connect with agents. Sometimes these complex cases need direct communication to get resolved quickly.

I'll definitely keep that in mind if I need to speak with someone directly. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, trying to get through on your own can be a nightmare with their phone system.

One last thing - make sure you file your claim for the correct week. Don't backdate it to when your disability ended if you weren't actually available for work until after your doctor's clearance.

0 coins

Exactly. The effective date should be when you were both able and available to work, which sounds like it was after your doctor's appointment.

This is really detailed helpful stuff. Thanks for sharing your experience OP!

Just want to add that if you're collecting standby benefits (like if you have a specific return date), the rules might be different. Make sure you understand which type of benefits you're on.

0 coins

How do you know which type you have? My layoff was permanent so I assume regular unemployment?

0 coins

If it was a permanent layoff with no return date, that's regular UI benefits. Standby is for temporary layoffs where you expect to return to the same employer.

0 coins

Remember that even after your 26 weeks are up, your benefit year continues for the full 52 weeks. So if you find work and then lose it again within that year, you might be able to collect remaining benefits.

0 coins

That's a good point most people don't realize. The benefit year is longer than the actual benefit period.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for all this info. I feel much more prepared now to plan my job search around the 26 week timeline.

The whole reason they call it involuntary unemployment insurance is because there used to be voluntary unemployment insurance programs in some states decades ago. Now it's mostly just the involuntary type, but the name stuck for legal and administrative reasons.

0 coins

Interesting history! So basically we're stuck with outdated terminology.

0 coins

Exactly. Government systems are slow to update terminology even when it becomes confusing to the public.

0 coins

Just to close the loop on this - if you filed an unemployment claim through Washington ESD after being laid off, you've already applied for involuntary unemployment insurance. No need to file anything else or worry about different programs unless you have other specific circumstances.

Perfect, thanks everyone! This thread really helped clear up my confusion.

Glad it helped! This is exactly the kind of question that trips up a lot of new claimants.
