Just to add another perspective - I had a friend who tried to file for unemployment while still technically on disability and it created a huge mess. Took months to sort out and she almost had to pay back benefits. Really recommend getting everything sorted with your medical situation first.
Bottom line - you can't collect unemployment if you're not able and available for work. If your doctor hasn't cleared you to work, you're probably not eligible yet. Wait until you have medical clearance or at least documentation that you can perform some types of work.
One more tip - keep all your pay stubs and tax documents even after you get approved. Sometimes Washington ESD will review your claim later and you might need to provide additional wage verification.
This thread has been super helpful! I was about to file for unemployment myself and had no idea how any of this worked. At least now I have some idea what to expect.
Been there done that. Filed for unemployment twice in the past 5 years. First time I got $680/week, second time I got $742/week because my wages had gone up. The system actually works pretty well once you get through the initial application process.
Based on what you've said about your wages, I'd estimate you'll get somewhere between $580-650 per week. That's assuming you worked consistently and didn't have any gaps in employment. The exact amount depends on the quarterly breakdown of your earnings.
I'm in Washington too and got my back pay exactly 4 business days after approval. Came to $3,200 for 8 weeks of waiting. Life saver when it finally hit my account!
One more tip - make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your ESD account. If there's any issue with your bank info, it could delay the payment significantly while they try to process it.

SUCCESS! I finally got through to Washington ESD (took 4 hours of calling) and they confirmed my 1099-G was sent to my old address. The agent updated my address and emailed me a copy within 10 minutes. Persistence pays off!

•Congratulations! That gives me hope. I'm going to keep trying to call them.

•4 hours? That's insane. This is exactly why services like Claimyr exist - to save people from this kind of frustration.

Final update from me: I ended up using Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD about my missing 1099-G. The whole process took about 20 minutes and the agent emailed me the form immediately. Wish I had done this weeks ago instead of trying to call myself repeatedly. Sometimes you just have to accept that the system is broken and find a workaround.

•Thanks for the update! I think I'm going to try that service too. This has been way too stressful.

•Good to know it worked for you. I might need to try that for other Washington ESD issues I've been having.
