If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

This conversation has been really eye-opening. I never connected prison labor to unemployment issues before, but it makes complete sense economically.

It's one of those systemic issues that isn't immediately obvious but has widespread effects on the job market.

0 coins

More people need to understand these connections. It affects everyone, not just people who have been incarcerated.

Thanks everyone for the discussion and advice. I'm going to keep documenting my job search for Washington ESD and look into those reentry programs. Hopefully the job market improves as more people become aware of these issues.

And remember Claimyr is there if you need to reach Washington ESD quickly about any issues with your claim.

Thanks for starting this discussion. It helped me understand my own situation better.

For what it's worth, I think Washington's unemployment benefits are pretty decent compared to other states. The maximum is almost $1000 a week which is way higher than a lot of places.

0 coins

Easy to say when you're probably getting the maximum! Not everyone qualifies for that much.

0 coins

Fair point. I just meant that at least Washington tries to keep up with cost of living better than some states.

0 coins

Does anyone know if the $999 maximum includes the dependency allowance or is that on top of it?

0 coins

The dependency allowance is on top of your regular weekly benefit amount, but I think there might be an overall maximum that includes both. You'd have to check with Washington ESD to be sure.

0 coins

I'll have to look into that. Every little bit helps when you're out of work.

Just to add one more - people sometimes think once their benefit year ends, they automatically get a new claim. You actually have to reapply and may not qualify if your work history doesn't meet the requirements again.

0 coins

So you need to have worked enough in the past year to qualify for a new benefit year?

0 coins

Exactly. Washington looks at your base period earnings to determine if you qualify for a new claim and what your benefit amount would be.

Hope this helps with your studying! The main thing to remember is that UI has lots of rules and requirements that people often misunderstand. When in doubt, always check the official Washington ESD website or talk to an agent.

This has been amazing help! Thanks everyone for taking the time to explain all these details.

And remember, if you do need to reach an agent later, claimyr.com can save you hours of frustration trying to get through the busy phone lines!

Something else to think about - even if your quit doesn't qualify as good cause, you might still be eligible for benefits later if you work at another job for a while. Washington ESD looks at your most recent separation from work.

0 coins

I hadn't thought about that. So I could work somewhere else for a few months and then if I got laid off, I could qualify?

0 coins

Yes, that's right. As long as you meet the other eligibility requirements at that time.

0 coins

The bottom line is that substantial hours reduction CAN be good cause for quitting in Washington. You have pay stubs showing the reduction and you tried to work with your employer. That's a reasonable foundation for a claim. File it and see what happens.

0 coins

Good luck! Make sure to be thorough in explaining your situation when you file.

Keep us posted on how it goes. Your case might help others in similar situations.

Bottom line - Washington ESD requires you to certify every week that you're able and available for full-time work. If you can't honestly make that certification due to disability, you shouldn't be collecting unemployment benefits. It's that simple.

0 coins

That's a good way to think about it. I guess I need to be honest about whether I can actually work or not.

0 coins

Exactly. And if your situation changes, you need to report it immediately. Don't wait until your next weekly claim.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I have a better understanding now. I'm going to try to reach Washington ESD before I make any decisions about disability benefits. Hopefully I can actually get through to someone.

Good luck! Hope you get the answers you need.

If you can't get through the regular way, remember that Claimyr option that was mentioned. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to sort these things out.
