Update us on how it goes! I'm always curious to hear how these cases turn out. Hoping you get approved quickly 🤞
Final reminder about the math: if your calculation gives you less than $295, you'll get $295 (the minimum). If it's over $999, you'll get $999 (the maximum). Most people fall somewhere in between. With your work history it sounds like you'll be fine.
Perfect, that gives me confidence to move forward. Really appreciate everyone's help!
I used Claimyr too when I couldn't get through to Washington ESD about my benefit calculation. They got me connected within a few hours and the agent was able to give me the exact amount before I filed. Definitely worth it if you want to know for sure before starting the process.
That sounds really helpful. I might check that out if I can't figure this out on my own.
Yeah the video demo I watched at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ explained it pretty well. Much easier than trying to navigate the phone system yourself.
Quick question - if my claim gets denied initially, do I still have to serve a waiting week when I appeal and eventually get approved?
Good question! If your appeal is successful, your waiting week would typically be applied to the first week you were eligible in your original claim period, not when the appeal was decided.
That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying!
The waiting week is frustrating but honestly it's better than some states that have longer waiting periods. Just wish Washington ESD was more transparent about timeline expectations.
overall the system works pretty well once you understand it. yes there's paperwork and requirements but it's designed to help people get back on their feet. just take it one step at a time and don't get overwhelmed by trying to understand everything at once
That's great advice. I was definitely trying to understand everything all at once and it felt impossible. Breaking it down into steps makes it much more manageable.
You got this! The first few weeks are the hardest but then it becomes routine. Focus on getting your initial claim filed and approved first, then worry about the weekly stuff once that's sorted out.
Thank you so much everyone! I feel way more confident about tackling this now. Going to file my claim this afternoon.
Awesome! Feel free to come back and ask if you have any other questions once you get started.

I used Claimyr when I was dealing with a complex quit situation and needed to speak with someone at Washington ESD. Being able to actually talk through the specifics with an agent was really helpful for understanding how to present my case.

•That does sound helpful. Did they give you specific advice about documentation?

•Yeah, the agent walked me through exactly what kind of evidence would strengthen my case. It made a big difference in how I approached the application.

Bottom line - you CAN get unemployment if you quit, but you need to prove you had good cause. Your hour reduction and hostile work environment could qualify, but document everything and be prepared for a potentially long process.

•Hope it works out for you. Nobody should have to deal with a hostile work environment.
