If anyone needs help navigating the Washington ESD system or getting answers about their benefits, I had good luck with Claimyr when I couldn't get through on the phone. They actually got me connected to a real person who explained my benefit timeline clearly.
Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum for regular Washington unemployment benefits. Use them wisely and start your job search immediately. The clock starts ticking as soon as you're approved.
Final thought - if you do get through, have all your information ready and be clear about your issue. Don't waste the opportunity with a disorganized call. Write down your questions beforehand.
Don't forget about the WorkSourceWA registration requirement. If you don't register and maintain an active profile there, Washington ESD can disqualify you for not meeting work search requirements.
The scariest disqualification is fraud. If Washington ESD thinks you intentionally provided false information, they can disqualify you for up to 52 weeks AND make you pay back benefits with penalties. I've seen people end up owing thousands.
If you run into any issues with the application or need to talk to Washington ESD about your specific retirement situation, definitely consider using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Saved me a lot of headache when I had questions about my claim.
This whole thread has been really informative. I had no idea retired people could apply for unemployment benefits. Learn something new every day!

This is why I always keep a small emergency fund even when on unemployment. These random delays are too stressful otherwise.

•Not everyone has the luxury of keeping extra money around when unemployment barely covers the basics.

•I know it's hard but even $50 set aside can help with these situations.

Final update from me: Got through to Washington ESD using Claimyr and they said there was a processing error affecting deposits issued Monday-Tuesday. They manually released mine and it should be in my account tomorrow. Worth the small fee to actually talk to someone who could fix it!

•That's great news! I'm going to try Claimyr tomorrow if my deposit still hasn't shown up.

•Good to know it actually works. The regular phone system is completely worthless for getting help.
