update: just saw several new job postings today advertising the new minimum wage as a selling point. seems like some employers are actually using it to attract workers
Final thought - if you're concerned about your specific situation, it might be worth speaking with a career counselor at WorkSourceWA. They can help you strategize your job search approach during this transition period.
Document everything - screenshot your claim status, payment history, and any messages in your account. If this gets escalated you'll want to have all that information ready.
If you're really sure you reported everything correctly, definitely appeal. I see too many people pay money they don't actually owe because they're afraid to challenge Washington ESD. The worst thing that can happen is they uphold the overpayment and you're back where you started.
Keep us updated OP! I'm curious how this turns out. There are probably other people in similar situations who could benefit from knowing what you learn.
Good luck with your application! The process seems overwhelming at first but it's really not that complicated once you dive in.
One more thing - if your claim gets complicated and you need to reach ESD by phone, definitely consider using Claimyr. I wish I'd known about it earlier in my claim process. Would have saved me tons of time and frustration.

I used Claimyr when I was confused about my remaining weeks and benefit year end date. The Washington ESD rep was able to explain exactly how many weeks I had left and when my benefit year expired. Much clearer than trying to figure it out from the online portal.

•The online portal is confusing about the timing. Good to know there's a way to get real explanations.

•Yeah, sometimes you need a human to walk through the numbers with you, especially when you're dealing with partial weeks or breaks in filing.

Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum, file weekly, do your job search, keep records, and don't count on extensions. Use the time effectively and you should be fine. The system works if you follow the rules consistently.

•Good luck with your job search! The 26 weeks can feel like a lot or a little depending on the job market, but having a clear timeline helps with planning.
