Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even if your initial claim is still pending or in adjudication. You can't go back and file for weeks you missed, so it's better to file and have them rejected than not file at all.
Good luck with your application! The process is intimidating at first but once you get through the initial filing it gets easier. Just stay on top of your weekly claims and job search requirements and you should be fine.
You're welcome! Feel free to come back here if you run into any issues. This community is pretty good about helping each other out.
And remember, if you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD, Claimyr is there as an option. Sometimes having a real conversation with an agent makes all the difference.
If all else fails, try contacting your state representative's office. They sometimes have direct contacts at Washington ESD for constituent services.
Let us know what ends up working! I'm sure other people have the same question about office hours and document submission.
Will do! Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I'm going to try the file upload in Firefox first, then maybe look into that Claimyr service if I still can't reach anyone.
One more thing - make sure you understand the difference between when you file your initial claim and when you start filing weekly claims. The initial claim establishes your benefit year, then you file weekly claims for each week you want benefits.
The bottom line is file as soon as possible. Every week you wait is money you're leaving on the table. Washington ESD benefits aren't huge but they help cover basic expenses while you look for work.
Remember that your benefit amount might be different if you had multiple jobs or if some of your wages weren't reported correctly. Always double-check your wage history in your Washington ESD account.
How do you check your wage history? I worked for a few different employers last year and want to make sure everything is correct.
Bottom line: your unemployment benefit amount depends on your past wages, you have to meet ongoing requirements to keep getting paid, and it's temporary assistance while you look for work. The system isn't perfect but it does provide help when you need it most.

Just wanted to add that you should save copies of everything you submit to Washington ESD. Screenshots, emails, everything. Helps if there are any issues later.

Bottom line: put down what your employer told you was the reason, be honest, and don't stress too much about the wording. Washington ESD has seen it all before.
