For anyone else reading this thread - the teleclaim option is definitely worth knowing about. Good backup when the website is down or you don't have computer access.
Just remember that even though you filed by phone, you'll still need to do your job search activities and report them when you file weekly claims. That part can't be skipped.
honestly the hardest part isnt figuring out how much youll get, its actually getting through to someone when you have questions or problems. the phone system is terrible and the online messaging never gets responses
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! Sounds like with my income level I should expect somewhere around $480-500 per week, which would definitely help while I'm job hunting. Going to use the online calculator to get a better estimate and then file my claim this weekend.
Just want to add - make sure you keep doing your weekly claims even while you're job searching. I made the mistake of skipping a week and it messed up my payments for a month.
The bottom line is that unemployment insurance is exactly that - insurance. Employers pay premiums (taxes) and when claims are filed, benefits come from the insurance fund. It's no different than any other type of business insurance, really.
Don't let the complexity discourage you from applying if you think you might qualify. The benefits can really help while you're looking for a new job. Just make sure you understand all the requirements and follow them carefully to avoid any issues.
If you run into any issues during the application process or need to speak with someone at Washington ESD, that Claimyr service really does work. I was skeptical at first but it saved me so much time and frustration trying to get through on the phone.

If anyone's still struggling to reach Washington ESD about work history verification, I had success with Claimyr recently. They got me connected within an hour to an agent who could access my wage records. Much better than spending days trying to get through the regular phone lines.

•I think I'm going to try that. The uncertainty is killing me and I need to know for sure if I qualify.

•Same here. I wasted so much time trying to figure it out on my own when I could have just talked to someone who could look up my actual records.

Bottom line: if you earned at least $3,850 in wages during your base year and worked in at least 2 quarters, you should qualify. The gaps between jobs don't matter as long as you meet those thresholds. File your claim and let Washington ESD make the determination.
