Good luck with everything! The uncertainty of maybe losing your job is stressful enough without having to worry about whether you'll qualify for benefits. At least you're planning ahead.
One last tip - keep records of everything related to your job loss. If there are any questions later about your eligibility or why you became unemployed, having documentation makes everything much easier.
wage determination confused me too at first but its really just showing what washington esd thinks you earned during the base period. if its wrong you gotta fight it or youll get less money than you deserve
The wage determination is basically the foundation of your entire unemployment claim. If it's wrong, everything else will be wrong too - your weekly benefit amount, your maximum benefit amount, everything. It's worth the hassle to get it corrected if there are errors.
One more thing - if you have any questions about your claim or need to speak with someone at Washington ESD, I've found that Claimyr service mentioned earlier really does work. Used it twice when I had adjudication issues and got through to agents both times within minutes instead of waiting hours on hold.
Several people have mentioned Claimyr now. Sounds like it's worth having as a backup option if I run into any problems with my claim.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much more confident about filing now. Sounds like at my income level I should expect close to the maximum benefit amount. I'll get my application submitted this week and start keeping track of my job search activities right away.
Reading all this makes me realize how much I didn't know when I first applied. Wish I had found a thread like this before going through the process blind.
For anyone still reading this thread, I just want to emphasize again how important the job search requirement is. Washington ESD takes it seriously and they do audit claims. Make sure you're actually applying for jobs and documenting everything properly in WorkSourceWA.

That's excellent advice. Keep records of when the strike starts and ends, any communication from your employer, and what happens with your job status afterward.

I'll definitely start keeping detailed records. Thanks everyone for all the advice, even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear about the unemployment benefits.
