Just wanted to add that you should still check your account regularly even with open status. Sometimes there are messages or requirements that pop up that you need to address to keep your claim active.
For anyone still struggling to get information about their claim, I ended up using that Claimyr service and it was honestly a lifesaver. Finally got to speak with an actual person who could explain what was happening with my claim.
Bottom line: expect 2-4 weeks for your first payment if everything goes smoothly, longer if there are complications. Keep filing those weekly claims and don't panic if it takes a little longer than expected. The system is slow but it usually works eventually.
Last bit of advice: keep copies of EVERYTHING. Your application, weekly claims, job search logs, any correspondence with Washington ESD. You never know when you might need to reference something.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I'm convinced - filing my claim today. Wish me luck with the Washington ESD system!
If anyone needs to verify protest deadlines or check claim status, I've found the Claimyr service gets you through to Washington ESD much faster than calling directly. Their callback system is brilliant - no more spending hours on hold.
Bottom line - if your employer missed the 10-day deadline and you were legitimately laid off due to lack of work, you should be fine. Washington ESD protects workers from employer retaliation through these time limits.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful information! I feel much more confident about my situation now. Sounds like my employer probably missed their chance to contest.

Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum, file weekly claims every week, keep looking for work and document it, report any income. The system isn't perfect but if you follow the rules you should be fine. Good luck with your job search!

Just remember that if you do run into issues with Washington ESD customer service, there are options like that Claimyr service people mentioned. Sometimes paying a little to get through to someone quickly is worth it versus losing weeks of benefits due to unresolved issues.

•I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully I won't need it but good to know it's there as a backup option.
