If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

This whole thread has been super helpful. One last question - if I refile and get denied for some reason, can I appeal like with a regular claim?

0 coins

Yes, the appeal process is the same. You have 30 days from the denial notice to file an appeal. Same rights as any other unemployment claim.

0 coins

Good to know. Hopefully it won't come to that but nice to know I have options.

Update: Just submitted my refiled claim! Thanks everyone for the help. The process was way easier than I expected. Now I just have to wait for them to process it.

0 coins

Great job getting it done! Remember to start filing your weekly claims once they give you the go-ahead.

0 coins

Will do! This thread saved me so much confusion and stress.

Just want to add that if you're still collecting unemployment benefits, definitely set up the tax withholding now. It's so much easier than dealing with a big bill at tax time.

0 coins

How do you set up the withholding? I'm currently on standby and want to make sure I don't get hit with a big tax bill next year.

0 coins

When you file your weekly claim, there should be a question about federal tax withholding. You can choose to have 10% withheld from each payment.

Update: I just checked my eServices account and found the tax withholding option! It was under the weekly claim section like everyone said. Thanks for all the help, this thread really eased my anxiety about the whole situation.

0 coins

Glad you found it! Having taxes withheld upfront really is the way to go if you can afford the slightly smaller weekly payments.

Great! I'm not currently on benefits but I bookmarked the location in case I need it in the future. This whole discussion has been really educational.

Actually, if you do need to call Washington ESD and can't get through, there's also Claimyr that basically gets you to the front of the phone queue. I used it when I had an overpayment issue that needed immediate attention. Much better than spending all day redialing.

I'm seeing Claimyr mentioned a few times now. Seems like a useful service if I get stuck.

0 coins

It really is. The phone system at Washington ESD is notoriously difficult to navigate, so having an alternative way to reach someone is invaluable.

Just wanted to add - don't be discouraged if the process seems overwhelming at first. Thousands of people successfully file for unemployment every week in Washington. Take it step by step and you'll get through it.

0 coins

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm feeling much more confident about starting the application now.

Payment schedule is weekly but the amount can vary week to week depending on what you report. If you work part time one week or have other income, your payment will be reduced for that week only.

0 coins

Does vacation pay count as income that would reduce your benefits? I'm getting a vacation payout from my former employer.

0 coins

Yes, vacation pay counts as wages and needs to be reported. It will reduce your unemployment payment for the week(s) it covers based on when your employer says the vacation time was supposed to be taken.

0 coins

Weekly but only if you meet all the requirements each week - file your claim, be available for work, and complete job search activities. Miss any of these and you won't get paid for that week.

0 coins

How many job search activities do you need in Washington? I keep seeing different numbers online.

0 coins

It's 3 job search activities per week unless you're in an approved training program or on standby status. Activities include applying for jobs, attending job fairs, or networking events.

0 coins

The whole thing is a pain but it's worth it if you qualify. I got like $450 a week when I was unemployed last year, which was way better than nothing while I looked for a new job.

0 coins

That would definitely help me keep up with bills while I job hunt. How long can you collect benefits?

0 coins

I think it's up to 26 weeks normally, but there might be extensions available depending on the economy. Check with Washington ESD for current limits.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I'm going to file my claim online today and start documenting everything like you suggested. Feeling a lot more confident about this now. I'll update if anything weird happens during the process.

0 coins

Good luck! Remember to file those weekly claims even while they're reviewing your case.

You got this! Don't let them intimidate you - you have rights as a worker.
