7 weeks with 'active' ESD claim but no payment or contact - am I approved?
I'm seriously starting to lose my mind here. I've been filing my weekly claims religiously for 7 straight weeks now. My ESD account shows my claim as 'active' but I'm completely in the dark about whether I'm actually approved or not. Haven't received a single payment, no letters in the mail, nothing in my eServices inbox, and absolutely zero communication from ESD. Every time I call, I get the dreaded 'high call volume' message and get disconnected. I've tried calling at different times (early morning, lunch, afternoon) with the same result. Do I need to be doing something else? Is 'active' the same as 'approved'? My savings are almost gone and rent is due next week. How am I supposed to know if money is coming or if there's some problem I need to fix if I can't get through to anyone?

active doesnt mean approved its just that ur in the system and filing. u might be stuck in adjudication without them telling u. happened to me too last year. went like 8 weeks b4 i found out i was in adjudication for identity verification

•Oh great... so I could be stuck in some mysterious process and they don't even bother to tell me? How did you finally find out you were in adjudication?

Unfortunately, 'active' just means your claim exists in the system and you're able to file weekly claims. It doesn't necessarily mean you're approved to receive benefits. The most common reasons for delayed payment are: 1. Identity verification issues 2. Employment separation investigation (if your employer contests) 3. Wage verification 4. Work search compliance review You should check under the 'Decisions' tab in your eServices account. If there's something that says 'pending' or 'adjudication' that's likely what's holding things up. Also check if there are any alerts or action items in your account that need your attention.

•Thanks for the info. I just checked the Decisions tab and there's nothing there - no pending items, no adjudication notices, nothing at all. My alerts section is also completely empty. It's like my claim just exists in limbo. If I can't talk to anyone at ESD, how am I supposed to figure out what's wrong?

OMG I know EXACTLY what you're going through!!!! The SAME thing happened to me in January!! 6 weeks of NOTHING and then suddenly money appeared without any notice!! ESD is totally broken and they treat us like we don't matter!!!!

•That gives me a tiny bit of hope. Did you ever find out what caused the delay or did the money just randomly show up one day?

After dealing with ESD for months last year, I've learned that 'active' just means you can file weekly claims, not that you're approved. You might be in adjudication without any notification - it's ridiculous but happens all the time. The system is completely overwhelmed. Try checking your account for these things: 1. Any correspondence in the Letters section 2. Any pending issues or decisions 3. Any action items you need to complete If all those are clear, you're probably stuck in some verification queue with no communication. After trying for weeks to call, I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an ESD agent within an hour. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It was the only way I could finally figure out what was holding up my claim.

•is that service legit? seems sketchy that you'd have to pay someone just to talk to esd

•Yeah, I was skeptical too, but I was desperate after 5 weeks of no payments. It worked for me - finally found out I was stuck in ID verification without any notification. The agent was able to push it through once I got connected.

This happens frequently in the ESD system. An 'active' claim status simply means your claim exists, not that it's been approved for payment. Here's what you should do: 1. Check your eServices account under 'Decisions' and 'Pending Issues' tabs 2. Look in your correspondence/letters section for any notices 3. Verify your identity verification status 4. Make sure your payment method is set up correctly 5. Continue filing your weekly claims on time Many claimants are placed in adjudication without proper notification. The system is designed to prevent fraud but unfortunately creates hardships for legitimate claimants. If you've been filing for 7 weeks without any communication, there's likely a flag on your account that requires manual review by an adjudicator. The critical thing is to keep filing your weekly claims even without payment - if you're eventually approved, you'll receive all back payments for properly filed weeks.

•Do you know if they'll actually tell you when you're in adjudication? My brother-in-law had a similar issue last month and when he finally got through to someone, they said his claim had been in adjudication for 5 weeks but there was no notification anywhere on his account.

•Unfortunately, ESD's notification system is inconsistent. Some claimants receive clear notifications about adjudication, while others discover their status only after speaking with an agent. It's a significant flaw in the system. The best practice is to assume you're in some form of review if you haven't received payment after 3-4 weeks of filing.

Update: I FINALLY got through to ESD this morning after calling 23 times (literally counted). Turns out my claim has been in adjudication for identity verification this ENTIRE TIME and they never bothered to tell me or request any documents!!! The agent said they had sent a letter 6 weeks ago but I never received it. Now I have to upload my ID documents and wait ANOTHER 3-4 weeks for processing. The system is completely broken. Going to try the Claimyr thing someone mentioned to follow up next week because I can't afford to wait another month.

•That's EXACTLY what happened to me!!!! They NEVER sent the letter they claimed they did!!!! This is why I tell EVERYONE to call them every week no matter what!!!!

•Glad you got through! Definitely submit those documents ASAP and then follow up. When I was in the same situation, I called back a week after submitting my ID docs and the agent was able to expedite the verification since I'd been waiting so long already.

Good to hear you finally got through and discovered the issue. For identity verification, make sure you upload clear, readable copies of: 1. Government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport) 2. Social Security card 3. Birth certificate (if you have it) Submit multiple forms of ID if possible, not just the minimum. This increases your chances of quick verification. Also, continue to file your weekly claims while waiting - if approved, you'll receive all back payments for properly filed weeks. After uploading documents, I recommend calling back within 5-7 business days to confirm receipt and ask if anything else is needed. Sometimes a second set of documents is required if the first submission was unclear or incomplete.

•Thank you! I uploaded my driver's license, SS card, birth certificate, AND a utility bill with my name and address just to be absolutely sure. Will definitely call back next week to confirm they received everything. Really appreciate the guidance!
