ESD showing 8 weekly claims stuck in 'processing' status since January - can't get through on phone
I filed my first claim back in January (Jan 4) and since then I've submitted 8 weekly claims that ALL just say 'processing' with no movement whatsoever. This is getting seriously stressful as my savings are almost gone. The ESD account shows no issues or pending documents needed from me. Literally just says 'processing' for every single week. I've tried calling at different times (morning, afternoon, even right when they open) but ALWAYS get the stupid recording saying 'high call volume' and to try again later. Has anyone else been stuck in this limbo? Is there some secret trick to actually reaching a human at ESD? What is even going on with my claim??

•6 weeks?? And they still haven't fixed it? This is making me panic even more. Did you try emailing them through the portal? I sent 3 messages and got zero responses.

Your claim is probably stuck in adjudication without them telling you. This happened to me in November and it turns out they were verifying information with my previous employer. The system doesn't always show this status correctly. There are a few things you should try: 1. Send a secure message through your eServices account specifically asking what's holding up your claim 2. Try calling exactly at 7:59am right before they open - sometimes you can get in the queue before the rush 3. Check if you have any alerts or tasks in your account that might not be obvious 4. Make sure you're still filing weekly claims even though they're stuck in processing You might be dealing with identity verification issues too. Did you get an Identity verification notice at all?

•No identity verification that I can see... I did send messages through eServices (3 of them!) with zero response. I'll try the 7:59am trick tomorrow - never thought of that! Do you know if weekend calls ever work better?

I had 7 claims stuck in processing from December 2024 to February 2025. It was a NIGHTMARE. Turned out there was an employer dispute that nobody bothered to tell me about. The system is completely broken, but I finally got help using Claimyr to reach an actual person at ESD. It's a service that gets you through to unemployment on the phone - saved me weeks of stress. You can check them out at claimyr.com and they have a video demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Within an hour of talking to an actual agent, my issue was identified and fixed. All my payments were released the following week.

•Totally get the skepticism - I felt the same way. But after two months of getting nowhere, I was desperate. It worked for me and several people in my job search group. After using it, I understood why it exists - the ESD phone system is literally impossible to get through otherwise.

When claims get stuck in processing for this long, it's almost always one of three issues: 1. Identity verification problems (most common) 2. Employer dispute about reason for separation 3. Missing documentation or information The fact that your account doesn't show any pending issues is concerning but not unusual. Sometimes the system doesn't properly update the claimant portal. Here's what you should do: - Continue filing your weekly claims without fail - Contact your previous employer to see if they've responded to ESD's inquiry - Check your mail carefully - sometimes they send physical letters instead of electronic notices - Try calling 360-486-5800 which is a different ESD number that sometimes has less traffic The current processing time for claims with any issues is 6-8 weeks, but without being able to speak to someone, you can't even confirm what's holding things up. Keep good records of all your contact attempts.

•Thank you for such a detailed response! I'll definitely try that alternative number. I never thought about calling my former employer - that's a good idea. It's crazy that they can just leave people hanging for 2+ months without any income or explanation.

•I actually got through last Monday! But it was pure luck - called at 3:45pm which is normally a terrible time, but somehow got in after only a 15 minute wait. The rep told me they'd had a system issue earlier that caused a bunch of people to drop off the hold queue. So maybe try during weird hours?

•10 WEEKS?!? That's insane! I didn't even think about going to WorkSource. There's one about 30 minutes from me - did you need an appointment or did you just show up?

Just following up - were you able to get through using any of the suggestions? One more thing I forgot to mention is that if you have any job separation issues (like if you quit or were fired rather than laid off), that almost always triggers a longer review period. Did you file your initial claim with any special circumstances?

•I finally got through yesterday using that Claimyr service someone mentioned! It actually worked. Turns out there was an identity verification flag on my account that never showed up in my portal or alerts. The agent was able to verify my identity right there on the call and said my payments should start processing within 3-5 business days. I was laid off (construction downsizing) so there shouldn't have been any issues with my separation reason. The agent couldn't explain why I never received any identity verification notices. System glitch apparently.
