Need advice: Rescheduling job interview due to Army spouse commitments
Hey everyone, I need some advice. My wife is in the Army and I have a job interview scheduled. I'm not sure how to go about rescheduling it. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What's the best way to handle this without messing up my chances?

First off, thank you and your wife for her service! πΊπΈ As for rescheduling, be honest with the employer. Most companies are understanding when it comes to military families. Just explain the situation and ask if you can reschedule. Make sure to emphasize your interest in the position!

β’Thanks for the advice! I'm just worried they might think I'm not serious about the job if I ask to reschedule. But you're right, honesty is probably the best policy here.

β’Agreed 100%! I work in HR and we always appreciate candor. Military commitments are totally valid reasons to reschedule.

Do you have any documentation about your wife's service or deployment? Having something official to show the employer might help smooth things over.

β’That's a good idea! I think I have her orders somewhere. I'll dig those up just in case.

I've been in your shoes before. Here's what worked for me: 1. Contact the interviewer or HR rep ASAP 2. Briefly explain the situation (military spouse, unexpected schedule conflict) 3. Propose a few alternative dates/times 4. Express your continued interest and enthusiasm for the position 5. Thank them for their understanding Most places are pretty accommodating, especially for military families. Good luck!

Have you considered doing a video interview instead? Might be easier to schedule around military commitments.

β’I hadn't thought of that! I'll definitely suggest it as an option when I reach out to them. Thanks!

Hey guys, I know this is off-topic, but I found a way to actually get someone on the phone for stuff like this. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/eSz742AOvHc

β’Sounds kinda sketchy. Is it legit?

β’Yeah, it's totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

β’How does it work exactly? Do they just keep calling until someone picks up?

β’Basically, yeah. They have some tech that navigates phone menus and detects when a real person answers. Then it calls you to connect. Pretty clever stuff!

Whatever you do, don't ghost them! I've seen candidates do that and it never ends well. Communication is key here.
