TWC RESA event tomorrow - no location details in reminder - remote or in-person?

Good evening, I signed up for a RESA event tomorrow through Work in Texas, but the reminder messages don't provide any details about location. I've sent an email to follow up although I haven't heard back quite yet. Has anyone had experience with a RESA event? Is it remote or on site to start? I don't want to miss it since I know it's mandatory for my unemployment benefits, but I'm not sure if I need to drive somewhere or if I can just log in from home. The confirmation email was super vague.

I went to a RESA workshop last month! Mine was virtual - they sent me a Teams link about 2 hours before it started. Check your spam folder, sometimes TWC emails get filtered there. If you don't get the link by tomorrow morning, try calling your local Workforce Solutions office directly. The workshop was actually pretty helpful for my job search. Good luck!

Thank you! I'll keep an eye on my spam folder. Did you have to keep your camera on the whole time? And how long did yours last?

Oh no, really? That makes me nervous. I guess I should try calling my local office in the morning to confirm.

RESA events are handled differently depending on your local Workforce Solutions office. Some are 100% virtual now, others are in-person, and some offer both options. You should have received an email with the specific details when you signed up through WorkInTexas. If you can't find that email, I'd strongly recommend calling your local Workforce Solutions office first thing in the morning. Missing a RESA event can affect your unemployment benefits, as they're part of your required work search activities. In my experience, most offices are doing virtual RESA events via Teams or Zoom since COVID, but it's always best to confirm directly with your office.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I'll definitely call them first thing tomorrow morning. I don't want to risk missing it and losing my benefits.

Call them RIGHT NOW!! Don't wait till tomorrow! TWC loves to trick people with these RESA things and then disqualify you for benefits if you miss it. I missed one because I thought it was online and it was actually in person and they cut off my benefits for THREE WEEKS!!!! Had to appeal and everything. The system is designed to make you fail I swear.

Oh wow, that's terrifying! Their office is closed right now but I'll call right when they open. So sorry that happened to you!

While it's definitely important to attend your RESA event, I want to clarify that TWC isn't trying to trick anyone. Sometimes there are communication issues between WorkInTexas and local Workforce offices. If you do miss a RESA event for good cause (like not receiving proper instructions), you can explain that during your appeal.

I had the same problem last week! Try calling your workforce center tomorrow but u know how impossible it is to get through on their phone lines. I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to a real person at TWC in like 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold forever. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh The TWC rep was able to tell me my RESA was virtual and resend the link to the right email. Saved me from missing it!

Yeah it worked for me! Definitely worth it when you're in a time crunch like with a RESA meeting. The regular TWC phone system is a nightmare.

Here's some accurate information about RESA events that might help you: 1. RESA stands for Reemployment Services and Assessment. It's a mandatory orientation for unemployment claimants. 2. The format (virtual vs. in-person) varies by Workforce Solutions office. 3. For virtual meetings, you should receive an email with the link 24-48 hours before the event. 4. The event typically lasts 1-2 hours. 5. You'll need to have your WorkInTexas profile completed before attending. 6. They'll typically cover job search strategies, resume help, and available resources. 7. Attendance is tracked and reported to TWC. If you don't get details by morning, call your local office as soon as they open. Most RESA events I've seen recently have been virtual, but it's definitely region-dependent.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I do have my WorkInTexas profile completed, so at least I've done that part right. I'll definitely call first thing in the morning to confirm the details.

My sister had her RESA thing last month and she said they never sent her the link until she called and complained. The whole system is so disorganized! But when she finally got the link it was just a boring Zoom meeting about resumes and stuff. She kept her camera off and just listened while playing games on her phone lol

That's not great advice - they do take attendance during these workshops and sometimes ask questions to make sure you're participating. Better to stay engaged so you don't risk your benefits.

UPDATE: I finally got through to my local Workforce Solutions office this morning. My RESA event IS virtual! They apologized for the confusion and sent me the Teams link. Thanks everyone for your help and advice - I'll be attending in about an hour. For anyone else facing this issue, definitely call your local office directly rather than waiting for an email that might never come!
