PA UC RESEA Program Email - What to Expect and Required Documents?

Got an email today about something called the 'Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment' (RESEA) Program that I apparently need to participate in for my PA unemployment. The email says I have to schedule an appointment but doesn't really explain what this program is or what I need to bring. Has anyone gone through this RESEA thing before? What exactly happens at these meetings? And what documents should I have ready? I'm worried they'll cut off my benefits if I mess this up!

The RESEA program is mandatory - it's basically PA's way of making sure you're actively looking for work and helping you find employment faster. At the meeting, you'll need to bring: 1. Your government ID 2. Resume (or be prepared to work on one) 3. Records of your work search activities (at least 6 contacts total - make sure you have company names, dates, contact info, positions applied for) 4. Any job offer documentation if you've received any They'll review your eligibility, help with your job search strategy, and potentially connect you with resources. It's usually about 1-1.5 hours. Don't worry too much, but definitely don't miss it - that WILL affect your benefits.

Thank you so much for the detailed info! Do I need to print out all my work search activities or can I just show them on my phone? Also is it a one-time thing or will I have to keep going back for more RESEA meetings?

I just went through this last month. Its not as bad as it sounds but make SURE u show up!!! My friend missed hers and they stopped her payments until she rescheduled and attended. They basically want to make sure ur actually looking for work and not just collecting $$. They made me do this weird assessment test thing too that took like 30mins.

I completed my RESEA appointment a few weeks ago. In addition to what others mentioned, they'll check if your job search efforts meet PA UC requirements (actively seeking work in a manner consistent with the occupation's hiring practices). You'll work with a career advisor who will review your employment history, help identify skills/barriers, and create an individual reemployment plan. They might also refer you to additional workshops or training programs. If you're having trouble scheduling through the email link, try calling your local PA CareerLink office directly. Much easier than dealing with the main UC phone lines.

They made me go to a workshop after my RESEA meeting! Nobody warned me about that part. Took up my whole afternoon when I was supposed to be at a job interview. Ridiculous system!

When I got that RESEA letter I panicked too!!! But honestly, it was actually kind of helpful? The career advisor I got was super nice and helped me update my resume. She even told me about some job opportunities I hadn't found on my own. But definitely bring your work search records!!! They will 100% check those. I just wrote mine in a notebook with dates and contact info for each place. They also had computers there to help apply for jobs. Oh and if you're having trouble reaching someone about scheduling, I used Claimyr to get through to an actual person at PA UC (claimyr.com). They have this service that connects you directly to an agent instead of waiting on hold forever. Saved me so much frustration when I needed to reschedule my RESEA appointment. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

Is Claimyr really worth it? I've been trying to reach someone at UC for 3 days about my RESEA appointment.

@UserName8 definitely worth it for me! I was in the same boat - kept getting disconnected after waiting on hold for like an hour. With Claimyr I got through to someone in about 15 minutes. Just make sure you have all your questions ready because once you get through, you want to make the most of it!

anyone know if you can reschedule these RESEA meetings? got mine scheduled during my kid's doctor appointment

Yes, you can reschedule once, but do it ASAP. Call the number in your RESEA notification email or contact your local PA CareerLink office directly. Explain your situation with your child's doctor appointment - they're usually understanding about legitimate conflicts. Just make sure you reschedule before your original appointment date to avoid any disruption to your benefits.

THE WHOLE RESEA PROGRAM IS A WASTE OF TIME!!! I already had a job lined up when I got selected for this stupid program but STILL had to go or they would've cut my benefits. The "career counselor" couldn't tell me ANYTHING I didn't already know. Sat there for 2 HOURS just to check a box for their system. PA unemployment system is BROKEN!!!

That's frustrating! Did you tell them you already had a job lined up? I'm wondering if they might waive the requirement in that case?

I told them and showed them my offer letter but they said I still had to complete the program since I was selected. Something about it being a federal requirement. Complete bureaucratic nonsense if you ask me!

Quick question - does anyone know if the RESEA meetings are still being done virtually due to COVID or are they in-person now? The email wasn't clear about that.

As of 2025, RESEA appointments in Pennsylvania are primarily in-person at your local PA CareerLink office. They stopped the virtual option last year except in rare circumstances (like if you have documented mobility issues or live in extremely remote areas). The email should include the physical address of where you need to go.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful information! I feel much better prepared now. I've got my appointment scheduled for next week and I'm putting together all my work search records. I never realized how important it was to keep detailed notes of all my job applications until now!

Good luck with your appointment! One last tip - arrive about 15 minutes early to get through security and check-in procedures. Some CareerLink offices can get busy, especially in the morning.
