PA UC Job Search Activities Not Showing on Dashboard After CareerLink Applications - Week 10

I'm on week 10 of my PA UC benefits and getting concerned about my job search activities. I've been applying to jobs through CareerLink, but when I check my dashboard, nothing shows up under my work search activities. Shouldn't these applications be automatically recorded? I've been keeping my own records just in case (dates, positions, company names), but I'm worried that the system might flag me for not meeting the requirements. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do I need to manually enter all my CareerLink applications somewhere else too?

same thing happened 2 me. career link jobs DON'T show up on ur dashboard automatically!! u gotta enter them manually each week when u file ur weekly claim. its stupid since both r state systems but they dont talk 2 eachother

Seriously?? That's so frustrating. I thought the whole point of using CareerLink was that it would be integrated with UC. Thank you for letting me know. I better start entering them manually then.

The PA UC system and CareerLink are technically separate systems that don't automatically share job application data, even though they're both state-run. You need to manually enter all your work search activities when you complete your weekly certification. Make sure you're recording company names, positions, application dates, contact information, and application method (online, in-person, etc.). Good job keeping your own records - that's exactly what you should be doing!

Wow I didn't know this either! I've been using CareerLink thinking it was tracking everything for my UC requirements. No wonder my dashboard looks empty. Thanks for explaining this!

I got AUDITED on my work search last month!! They wanted proof of all my applications and I almost had a HEART ATTACK because I thought CareerLink was tracking everything!!! Thankfully I kept screenshots of every single application or I would have been DISQUALIFIED and had to pay everything back!!! The system is designed to TRICK US into failing the requirements!!

Oh my god, that's terrifying! I'm glad you had screenshots. I haven't been taking screenshots, just writing everything down in a notebook. Do you think that's enough if I get audited?

To clarify: PA requires at least 2 work search activities each week (applying to jobs is just one type of acceptable activity). While CareerLink is a great resource, it doesn't automatically transfer your application data to your UC dashboard. You must manually record all activities when filing your weekly claim. If audited, you'll need to provide verification of your reported activities. Written records with detailed information should suffice, but digital proof (screenshots, confirmation emails) provides stronger evidence. The PA UC system isn't trying to trick anyone - it's just that the two systems weren't designed to communicate with each other.

Maybe not DESIGNED to trick people but they sure don't make it clear!!! I talked to 3 different people at the unemployment office and NONE of them told me CareerLink doesn't automatically track!! And then BAM - audit notice!!

I had the same issue trying to contact someone at UC about this exact problem. Kept getting busy signals for weeks! I eventually used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual person at PA UC. They have this service where they'll call UC for you and connect you when they reach an agent. Saved me hours of frustration! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The agent confirmed that CareerLink applications need to be manually entered on your weekly certification.

Thank you for the tip! I've been trying to call them too but it's always busy. I'll check out that service if I can't figure this out. Did they say anything about how detailed the manual entries need to be?

just wanna add that u can do other activities besides job applications. attending job fairs, working on resume, updating linkedin profile all count too. need 2 per week.

ya but be careful, if u get audited some activities r harder 2 prove than others. job applications have confirmation emails but how do u prove u updated ur resume? keep screenshots of everything!

For your manual entries, you should include: - Company name - Position applied for - Date of application - Method of application (online, email, in-person) - Contact information when available (hiring manager, website, etc.) To answer your original question - no, CareerLink activities do NOT automatically populate your UC dashboard, but they absolutely DO count toward your requirements when manually entered. Keep maintaining your detailed records and enter everything when you file your weekly claim. This should keep you in compliance with PA UC requirements.

Thank you so much for the detailed information! This is really helpful. I'll make sure to include all those details when I enter my activities. Going forward, I'll take screenshots of my applications too just to be safe.

I'm a newcomer here and just started collecting UC benefits last week. Reading through this thread has been SO helpful because I was making the exact same assumption about CareerLink! I've been applying through their system thinking it would automatically count toward my work search requirements. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences - I'm going to start manually entering everything right away and keeping detailed records with screenshots. Better to learn this now than get caught off guard later. Does anyone know if there's a specific format PA UC prefers for the manual entries, or is it just important to have all the required details mentioned?

Welcome to the community! I'm also relatively new to this whole UC process and made the same mistake initially. From what I've learned reading through everyone's experiences here, there isn't a specific format required - just make sure you include all the key details Sean mentioned (company name, position, date, method, contact info). The most important thing seems to be consistency and having proof if you get audited. I've started keeping a simple spreadsheet with all that information plus screenshots of confirmation pages. Good luck with your job search!

Another newcomer here! I just filed my first weekly claim yesterday and realized I had no idea how to enter my work search activities. I've been using CareerLink exclusively and assumed it would sync automatically - thank goodness I found this thread before I got too far along! I'm going back through my email confirmations now to manually enter everything I've applied for. One quick question - when you all say "screenshots," do you mean just of the confirmation page after submitting an application, or should I also screenshot the actual job posting? I want to make sure I'm documenting everything properly from the start.

Welcome to the community! I'm also new here and learned about this CareerLink issue the hard way. For screenshots, I'd recommend getting both - the confirmation page is most important because it shows you actually submitted the application with a timestamp, but I also grab screenshots of the job posting itself in case the listing gets taken down later. Some job postings disappear pretty quickly and if you get audited months later, you'll want to be able to show exactly what position you applied for. I keep everything organized in folders by week on my computer. It's a bit tedious but better safe than sorry!

New to UC benefits here and this thread has been a lifesaver! I literally just submitted my second weekly certification this morning and had been wondering why my CareerLink applications weren't showing up anywhere. I thought there was a glitch in the system or something was wrong with my account. Reading through everyone's experiences, I realize I need to go back and manually enter all my applications from the past two weeks. I've been keeping notes in a notebook but clearly need to step up my documentation game with screenshots and confirmation emails. Quick question for those who've been through audits - do they typically audit randomly or is there something specific that triggers it? I want to make sure I'm doing everything right from the beginning. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge!

Welcome to the community! I'm also brand new to this whole UC process and this thread has been incredibly eye-opening. From what I've gathered reading through everyone's experiences, audits seem to be somewhat random but can also be triggered if there are inconsistencies in your claims or if you have gaps in your work search activities. @Luca Esposito mentioned getting audited and it sounds like it was pretty stressful! I d'say the key is being proactive like you re'already doing - keep detailed records from day one, take those screenshots, and always err on the side of over-documenting rather than under-documenting. I ve'started a simple Excel spreadsheet with columns for date, company, position, application method, and a folder on my desktop for all my screenshots organized by week. It s'tedious but reading about people almost losing their benefits because of documentation issues has me paranoid in the best way possible!

Just want to echo what everyone else is saying here - this is such a common confusion point for new UC recipients! I made the exact same mistake when I first started collecting benefits. The lack of integration between CareerLink and the UC system is really frustrating, especially since they're both state systems. What helped me stay organized was creating a weekly routine: every Sunday I review all my job applications from the previous week, make sure I have screenshots/confirmations saved, and then enter everything when I file my weekly claim on Monday. I also keep a backup spreadsheet with all the details just in case the UC system glitches or I need to reference something later. The extra documentation might seem like overkill, but after reading about people getting audited and nearly losing benefits, it's definitely worth the peace of mind. Keep doing what you're doing with the detailed record-keeping - you're on the right track!

Thank you for sharing that weekly routine idea! That's really smart - having a set day to review and organize everything before filing the weekly claim. I'm definitely going to adopt something similar. It's reassuring to know that so many people have gone through this same learning curve with the CareerLink/UC integration issue. I wish they made this clearer somewhere in the initial paperwork or orientation materials, but at least we have communities like this to help each other figure it out. Your point about keeping a backup spreadsheet is great too - I hadn't thought about what happens if the UC system itself has technical issues when you're trying to enter your activities. Better to have multiple records than scramble to recreate everything later!
