Employer withdrew appeal for my PA UC benefits - will payments continue?
I'm in a weird situation with my PA unemployment claim. Got laid off from the warehouse after 2 years due to 'restructuring' and filed for UC benefits in January. My claim was initially approved and I received 2 payments, then my ex-employer filed an appeal claiming I was fired for attendance (which was NOT true). My payments stopped immediately. I just got a notice in the mail yesterday saying the employer withdrew their appeal and it was 'granted' by the UC office. Does anyone know what happens next? Will my benefits automatically start coming again or do I need to call someone? I'm worried because I've been without income for almost 3 weeks now and my rent is due next Friday. I'm still filing my weekly claims but nothing is showing up in my payment history since the appeal was filed.

•Oh that's such a relief to hear! Did you have to call them or did the payments just start automatically? My regular payment day would be Monday if they process it in time.

When an employer withdraws their appeal and it's granted by UC, this generally means your benefits will continue without further interruption. The system should automatically resume payments for any weeks you've already certified. However, there's often a 1-2 business day processing time before the status updates in the system. Keep filing your weekly claims as normal. Check your payment history online daily - you should see pending payments appear there first before they hit your Money Network card or direct deposit account.

•Thank you! I'll keep checking my payment history. The UC website is showing all my weekly claims as "filed" but nothing in payment status yet. Hopefully it updates soon because I'm getting really worried about paying my bills.

DO NOT assume ANYTHING with PA UC!! They might SAY your benefits will continue but the SYSTEM doesn't always do what they claim!! I had an employer withdraw an appeal last year and my benefits were STILL FROZEN for another 2 months while they "processed" things!! You NEED to call them ASAP and get it in WRITING that your benefits are continuing!!

•Oh no, that's terrifying! I can't wait 2 more months - I'll be evicted by then! I've been trying to call every day but I just get busy signals or automated messages.

I had a similar situation back in October. The payments should resume on their own, but like others have said, PA UC can be unpredictable. If you don't see a payment pending within 3-4 business days after receiving that notice, you should definitely try to get through to a rep. When I needed to talk to someone at UC, I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent after trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Saved me weeks of waiting and stressing.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'm going to give it until Monday to see if the payment appears, and if not, I'll check out that service. I really need to talk to someone to make sure this gets fixed.

Just to provide some clarity on this process: When an employer withdraws an appeal, the UC Service Center typically reviews and approves the withdrawal, and then reinstates benefits if the original determination was in your favor (which it sounds like it was). The important thing is that the approval notice you received means the withdrawal was accepted, not that there's a new decision about your benefits. Your claim should revert to its pre-appeal status, which was approved. Keep filing weekly claims and check your dashboard for updates. If nothing changes within 5 business days of receiving that notice, then you should contact the UC Service Center. By PA law, they must process the withdrawal and resume payments for eligible weeks within a reasonable timeframe.

•This explanation makes so much sense, thank you! Yes, I was initially approved before they filed the appeal. I'll keep filing and watching for updates. I really appreciate everyone's help with this!

•Yes, I've been doing all my work search activities! I keep a detailed log of everything and make sure to enter it when I file my weekly claim. The issue isn't with my work search - it's definitely related to the appeal.

This whole system is so frustrating! Just when you think everything is fine, employers can throw a wrench in the works with these bogus appeals. In my experience, even after an appeal is withdrawn, there's almost always some kind of delay. The UC system seems designed to make it as difficult as possible to get benefits we're entitled to. I would not just sit back and wait. Keep calling, check your portal daily, and document everything. And definitely follow up if you don't see movement in a few days.

•UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that my payments showed up as pending this morning! Looks like they're processing all the weeks that were held during the appeal. Such a relief! Thanks to everyone who helped me understand what was going on.
