Does anybody know if UC Payment will be affected based on my taxable brokerage account? I have investments and some that earn dividends. I reinvest everything. I have not sold or withdrawn any money from the account. I'm not actively trading.

Hey Nick! Generally speaking, if you're just holding investments and reinvesting dividends without actually withdrawing any cash, it typically shouldn't affect your UC payments since you're not receiving actual income that you can use for living expenses. However, I'd recommend double-checking with the PA UC office directly since investment rules can be tricky and they might have specific guidelines about how they handle dividend income, even if it's reinvested. Better to get the official word to avoid any potential issues down the line. Hope this helps!

@Ana Erdoğan Thank you! Have you yourself dealt with this before?

@Nick Patel @Ana Erdoğan I haven t personally'dealt with this exact situation, but I ve been'through the UC system in PA and they re pretty'thorough about income reporting. From what I understand, they typically care more about liquid income you can actually access rather than paper gains or reinvested dividends. But Ana s right'- definitely get it in writing from UC because they can change their interpretation of rules. You might also want to keep detailed records of your account statements showing the reinvestment activity just in case they ask for documentation later.
