Confused about Transitional PA UC with two open issues - past employer dispute and 6x WBA qualification
I'm so stressed out about my Transitional UC claim that has TWO open issues right now. First issue: my former company is being difficult AGAIN even though I already won against them TWICE in my regular UC claim! They're saying they submitted new documents, but I've already been through hearings with them and won. Second issue: there's something about needing "6 times WBA" to qualify for Transitional benefits. I have no idea if I meet this requirement or how to check. Will I need to go through another referee hearing with this company? Has anyone dealt with transitional UC while a previous employer keeps fighting? This is driving me crazy because my benefits are on hold and rent is due next week.

the 6x wba thing means u need to have earned 6 times ur weekly benefit amount during ur base period to qualify for transitional... check ur financial determination letter it should say how much u earned

I just looked at my financial determination letter again and it shows my base year wages as $23,450. My weekly benefit amount is $382. So I think I should qualify for the 6x WBA requirement, right? (6 x $382 = $2,292 and I earned way more than that). But why is this showing as an open issue then??

Your numbers definitely show you meet the 6x WBA requirement by a large margin. The bigger concern is probably your employer contesting again. Unfortunately, employers can contest each new claim type (regular UC, transitional UC, etc.) separately even if they lost before. It's frustrating but part of their system.

My aunt just went through the transition UC stuff. The employer can dispute every time u apply for a different program even if u won b4. Its a total scam that lets companies keep fighting even after they lose. She finally got her benefits after 5 weeks but had to do another hearing.

When I finally got through to a rep, they were able to clear the 6x WBA issue immediately since it was just a verification step. For the employer dispute, it depends whether they're raising new issues or just contesting eligibility again. In my case, they were making the same arguments they lost with before, so the rep escalated it to a supervisor who cleared it within 3 business days. If it's a new issue, though, you might need another hearing which could take 3-4 weeks unfortunately.

THEY DO THIS ALL THE TIME!! The transition from regular UC to transitional UC is DESIGNED to let employers keep fighting even after they LOSE!!! I had to wait SEVEN WEEKS with my transitional claim because my ex-employer kept disputing even though they lost twice before!!!! The whole system is rigged against workers!!!! And the 6x WBA thing is just another hoop they make us jump through. CALL THEM EVERYDAY until they fix it!!!!!

•Yes I did get all the backpay BUT it doesn't help when you're about to be EVICTED because your landlord doesn't care that the UC system is broken!!! I had to borrow money from family which was humiliating!!!

I went through this last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call the UC service center first thing in the morning (7:30am when they open) 2. Ask for a "status update" on both issues - specifically mention that your base year wages clearly exceed the 6x WBA requirement 3. For the employer issue, ask if they're raising new concerns or just repeating previous arguments 4. Request expedited review if possible In my case, they cleared the 6x WBA issue immediately and scheduled an expedited phone interview about the employer issue instead of a full hearing. •I used the main number (888-313-7284) but called exactly at 7:30am. It still took about 20 attempts over 3 days before I got through. The system is overwhelmed, especially early in the week. Thursday and Friday mornings tend to be slightly better.

my sister had this problem when she filed for transitional last month!! they do this all the time with the 6x wba thing even when it's obvious you qualify. she just kept calling and finally got someone who fixed it on the spot! the employer thing is more annoying tho

Final update: Used Claimyr this morning and got through to UC in about 25 minutes! The rep was actually really helpful. She cleared the 6x WBA issue immediately after checking my wages. For the employer issue, since they're making the same arguments as before, she's escalating it to a supervisor for review instead of sending me to another hearing! Said I should hear back within 5 business days. Such a relief - thanks again everyone for your advice!
