Why is unemployment a problem for NYS Department of Labor claims - need perspective on system issues
I've been dealing with the NYS Department of Labor system for months now and I'm starting to wonder if unemployment itself is causing more problems than it's solving. My claim has been in adjudication for 6 weeks, I can't get through to anyone on the phone, and the online portal keeps glitching. Meanwhile I'm behind on rent and my savings are gone. Is it just me or does the whole unemployment system seem broken? I filed back in November and it's now January and I still haven't received a single payment. At this point I'm wondering if I should just give up and take any job I can find, even if it pays way less than what I was making. Has anyone else felt like the unemployment process is harder than actually being unemployed?

I had a similar issue last year and what finally worked was using a service called Claimyr to get through to an actual NYS Department of Labor agent. totally feel you on this. unemployment was supposed to help me transition between jobs but instead its been nothing but stress and paperwork and waiting. at least when youre working you know money is coming in
