When is unemployment open for filing claims with NYS Department of Labor?
I'm confused about the hours when I can file my weekly unemployment claim. I've been trying to submit my certification since Sunday but the system keeps giving me errors. Are there specific times when the NYS Department of Labor unemployment system is actually open? I thought it was 24/7 but maybe I'm wrong. My benefits are going to get delayed if I can't figure this out soon.

The NYS Department of Labor unemployment system is open 24/7 for most functions, but weekly claim certification has specific windows. You can certify starting Sunday at 6 AM through the following Saturday. However, the system does maintenance on Sunday mornings from 2-6 AM which might explain your errors.

•That makes sense! I was trying around 4 AM on Sunday. I'll wait until after 6 AM next time.

Just to clarify - you have until the following Saturday to certify for your weekly claim. So if your benefit week ends on Saturday, you have until the next Saturday to submit. Don't panic if you can't get in on Sunday morning due to maintenance. The NYS Department of Labor gives you the full week to certify.

•THANK YOU for this! I've been stressing every Sunday thinking I had to do it that exact day.

I had similar issues and couldn't get through to NYS Department of Labor phone support because of the crazy call volume. Someone here mentioned claimyr.com - it's a service that helps you actually reach unemployment agents. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

•Is that service legit? I'm desperate at this point but don't want to get scammed.

•Yeah it's real. They just help you get through to an actual person at NYS Department of Labor instead of sitting on hold forever. Way easier than the regular phone system.

The whole system is a mess honestly. I've been unemployed for 2 months and still dealing with adjudication issues. Even when the system is 'open' half the time it doesn't work properly.

•Adjudication delays are unfortunately common right now. If you're stuck in adjudication for more than 3 weeks, you should definitely try to speak with someone directly to check your case status.
