What's the phone number to unemployment NYS Department of Labor - can't find working contact info
I've been searching everywhere for the actual phone number to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor about my unemployment claim but every number I try either disconnects me or puts me on hold for hours. My weekly claim got flagged for some reason and I need to talk to a real person. Does anyone have the current working phone number for unemployment? The website has like 5 different numbers and none of them seem to work.

The main number is 888-209-8124 but good luck actually getting through. I've been trying for 2 weeks to reach someone about my adjudication status. The system hangs up on you after like 30 minutes on hold most of the time.

There's also 518-457-9000 for general inquiries, but honestly the phone system is overwhelmed. Try calling right when they open at 8am - that's your best shot. Make sure you have your claim confirmation number ready before you call.

For what it's worth, you can also try messaging through your my.ny.gov account, though response times vary. Sometimes they respond within a few days, sometimes it takes 2+ weeks. If your issue is urgent like a missed weekly claim deadline, definitely keep trying the phone.
