Got a second waiting week for unemployment claim after returning - is this normal?

I opened my claim back in September 2022, served a waiting week, then went back to work. Now I'm claiming again for the summer and they gave me another waiting week. My payment history shows two waiting weeks - one from September and one from last week. Is this normal? Anyone else deal with this? Looking at my payment history: Week Ending | Total Amount | Net Amount | Effective Days | Release Date | Type ------------|--------------|------------|----------------|--------------|------ 07/02/2023 | $126.00 | $110.25 | 1 | 07/03/20 | 07/02/2023 | $0.00 | $0.00 | 3 | 06/30/2023 | Waiting week 09/11/2022 | $0.00 | $0.00 | 1 | 09/15/2022 | Waiting week As you can see, I had a waiting week back in September 2022 (week ending 09/11/2022) when I first filed, and now I have another waiting week for 07/02/2023. I did get a partial payment for that same week (07/02/2023) with $126.00 total and $110.25 net amount, but there's also that waiting week showing up. I didn't expect to serve another waiting week since I already did one in September. Is this how it's supposed to work? Do you have to serve a new waiting week if you stop claiming for a while and then start again?

same thing happened to me! I thought you only had to do the waiting week once per benefit year. Anyone know whats going on with this?? 🤔

I found a way to actually get through to someone on the phone. Used this service called claimyr.com that calls and waits on hold for you then connects you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Ok unemployment expert here. Let me break this down: You should only serve ONE waiting week per benefit year. If you're seeing two, its definitely a system error. Here's what you need to do: First, document everything. Screenshot your payment history showing both waiting weeks. Second, you NEED to speak with a claims specialist. Regular agents cant fix this. Best way to reach them is through claimyr.com - they'll get you through to someone quick. Third, when you get through, specifically mention the duplicate waiting week and request backpay for that week. Dont let them brush you off. This is their error and they need to fix it. The system has been super glitchy lately but this is a clear cut case.

This is definitely a system error - you should only have one waiting week per benefit year! I had something similar happen to me last year. The key is to keep calling until you get someone who actually knows what they're doing. Document everything like Josef said and don't let them tell you it's normal because it's not. The system has been extra glitchy since they updated it. Hope you get it sorted out quickly!

@Ethan Brown thanks for confirming this! I was starting to think maybe I was crazy or missed something in the rules. Definitely gonna document everything and keep calling until I get someone who can actually help. It s'frustrating that we have to fight for what should be automatic but at least now I know I m'not alone in dealing with this glitch!
