New York Unemployment Payment Schedule - When do benefits actually hit your account?

Been waiting on my first unemployment payment. Applied and got approved but nothing in my account yet. Anyone know what days they usually deposit? Also do they wait for the next scheduled deposit day or pay right after approval? Getting anxious watching my bank account.

They usually deposit between monday-wednesday depending on when you certified. For me its always tuesday morning around 6am. Been collecting since january so im pretty familiar with the schedule by now

they typically wait for the next deposit day after ur first certification. dont worry tho, theyll back pay you for any weeks you were eligible πŸ’―

I was stuck waiting forever too until I found this site claimyr.com that helped me get through to someone. Paid $20 but they got me connected to a rep who fixed everything. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Just got my first payment yesterday after 2.5 weeks of waiting! For anyone still waiting - it really does come through eventually. Mine hit Tuesday morning around 7am with Wells Fargo. The back pay was included like others mentioned. Hang in there!

Just wanted to add that if you're with Bank of America, payments usually show up Tuesday around 8-9am in my experience. Also pro tip - set up text alerts for deposits so you don't have to keep checking manually. Saved my sanity during the waiting period lol. The anxiety is real but everyone here is right that it does eventually come through!

OMG yes the text alerts are a game changer! I was literally checking my app every hour before I set those up πŸ˜… Thanks for the Bank of America timing info too - that's really helpful since I'm with them. Good to know it's usually around 8-9am on Tuesdays!

Been through this whole process recently! For Chase bank users, payments typically hit around 6-7am Tuesday mornings. One thing I learned is that you can actually check your payment status on the NY DOL website under "Payment History" - it'll show if it's processed even before it hits your account. Really helped ease my anxiety during the wait. Also make sure you're doing your weekly certifications on time because any delays there will push back your payment. The first one is definitely the hardest to wait for but once you're in the system it becomes predictable!

This is so helpful! I'm with Chase too so good to know about the 6-7am timing. Didn't know about checking the payment history on the DOL website - that's a great tip to avoid constantly refreshing my bank app. I've been staying on top of my weekly certifications so hopefully that helps. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Adding to what everyone else said - I'm with TD Bank and mine hits Tuesday around 9am usually. One thing that helped me was calling the automated phone line (888-209-8124) to check my claim status instead of just waiting. It gives you info about payment dates and amounts without having to get through to a person. Also if you're really anxious, the NY DOL mobile app sends push notifications when payments are processed which is way better than constantly checking your bank. First payment anxiety is totally normal - we've all been there! Once you get into the rhythm it's much less stressful.

Thanks for the TD Bank timing and all the extra tips! The automated phone line is clutch - didn't know about that number. Just downloaded the NY DOL app too based on your rec. Really appreciate everyone sharing their bank-specific timing, makes this whole waiting game way less stressful when you know what to expect. This thread has been a lifesaver! πŸ™

For anyone still waiting - I'm with Capital One and my payments hit Tuesday mornings around 8:30am consistently. What really helped me during the first payment wait was setting up account alerts AND keeping a little notebook tracking my certification dates. That way I could calculate roughly when to expect payment instead of just anxiously waiting. Also learned that if you have any issues, don't just keep calling the main number - try calling different regional offices during off-peak hours (like 2-4pm). Much better success rate getting through to someone who can actually help. The waiting is brutal but everyone's right that once you're in the system it becomes routine. Hang in there! πŸ’ͺ

This is such great advice! The notebook idea is genius - I'm definitely going to start tracking my certification dates so I can stop obsessing over when payments might come. And thanks for the tip about calling regional offices during off-peak hours, that's really smart! I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get through on the main line. Capital One timing is super helpful too since I was considering switching to them. Really appreciate you taking the time to share all these detailed tips! πŸ™

Just want to echo what everyone's saying about the Tuesday morning deposits! I'm with PNC and mine consistently hits around 7:30am on Tuesdays. The first payment took about 2 weeks for me after approval, but it included all the back pay which was a relief. One tip that saved my sanity - I started treating Tuesday mornings like a little celebration instead of anxiously checking my phone at 6am. Made the whole process way less stressful. Also want to mention that if you're doing gig work or have any side income, make sure you're reporting it correctly during certification or it can delay your payments. The system is pretty good once you get the hang of it. Stay patient everyone! πŸ™Œ

Love the mindset shift about treating Tuesday mornings as a celebration instead of stress-checking! That's such a healthy way to approach it. I'm also with PNC so the 7:30am timing is super helpful to know. Good point about reporting side income correctly too - I do some freelance work so I'll make sure I'm being accurate with that during certification. Thanks for the positive vibes and practical advice! This whole thread has been amazing for easing first-timer anxiety 😊

Just wanted to share my experience as someone who just went through this! I'm with Ally Bank and my first payment took exactly 17 days from approval to deposit. It hit on a Tuesday morning around 5:30am (online banks tend to process earlier). The back pay was all there which was such a relief! For anyone in the waiting period - I found it helped to screenshot my approval notice and write down the date so I could track how long it had been. Also learned that if you certified on Sunday, you're more likely to get paid that Tuesday vs if you certify later in the week. The anxiety is so real but reading all these experiences here really helped me stay patient. You got this! πŸ’™

17 days is actually pretty good timing! I'm still waiting on day 12 so this gives me hope. Ally Bank at 5:30am is early - you're right that online banks seem to process faster. The screenshot tip is smart, I should do that to stop second-guessing myself about when I actually got approved. Really appreciate you sharing the exact timeline and all the details! This community is so helpful for us newbies going through this process πŸ™

I'm with Navy Federal and mine hits Tuesday around 6am consistently! Just wanted to add that if you're really anxious about timing, you can also check the NY DOL website under "View and Maintain Account Information" -> "Payment History" to see if your payment has been released before it actually shows up in your bank. Sometimes there's like a 12-24 hour delay between when DOL releases it and when your bank posts it. Also pro tip - if you have mobile banking, turn on push notifications for deposits over $0 so you don't have to keep manually checking. The first payment wait is definitely the worst part but once you're in the routine it's much more predictable. Hang in there everyone! 🀞

Navy Federal at 6am is great timing! That tip about checking the DOL website payment history before it shows up in your bank is clutch - I had no idea there could be a 12-24 hour delay between release and posting. Just checked and sure enough, my payment shows as "released" on the DOL site but nothing in my account yet. This actually makes me feel so much better knowing it's in the pipeline! The push notification tip is perfect too, definitely setting that up right now. Thanks for breaking down the exact steps and timeline! πŸ™Œ

I'm with USAA and just wanted to add my experience for anyone else banking with them - payments typically hit around 7am on Tuesday mornings. What really helped me during the 2+ week wait for my first payment was setting up a simple spreadsheet to track my certification dates, expected payment dates, and actual deposit dates. This way I could see the pattern developing instead of just anxiously waiting. Also discovered that USAA's mobile app has a really good transaction history search feature where you can filter by "deposits" which made it easier to spot when payments came through. For anyone still waiting on their first payment - I know it feels like forever but everyone here is right that it does come through eventually with full back pay! The anticipation is definitely the hardest part but once you get that first deposit the whole process becomes much more manageable. πŸ’ͺ

The spreadsheet idea is brilliant! I wish I'd thought of that during my waiting period instead of just stress-checking my account randomly. USAA at 7am Tuesday is really consistent timing. I'm actually thinking of switching to USAA from my current bank since they seem to have better mobile features for tracking this stuff. Thanks for sharing such detailed tracking methods - this is exactly the kind of systematic approach that would help manage the anxiety. Going to set up something similar for my weekly certifications! πŸ“Š

I'm with Citibank and just got my first payment after 19 days of waiting! It hit Tuesday morning at 8:15am with all the back pay included. For anyone still in the waiting phase - I found it really helpful to join this community and read everyone's experiences because it made me realize the timing is pretty normal and predictable once you know what to expect. One thing that helped my anxiety was setting a daily reminder to check the NY DOL website instead of obsessively refreshing my bank app 20 times a day. The reminder kept me from spiraling while still letting me stay informed. Also want to say thank you to everyone who shared their bank-specific timing - it's so reassuring to know what's normal! This thread should be pinned for all the newcomers going through this process πŸ™

Congrats on getting your first payment! 19 days seems to be pretty typical from what everyone's sharing. I'm currently on day 8 of waiting and this whole thread has been incredibly helpful for managing expectations. The daily reminder approach is smart - I've definitely been guilty of the obsessive bank app refreshing πŸ˜… Citibank at 8:15am Tuesday is good to know too. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and timeline! This community has been a lifesaver for understanding what's normal vs what to worry about. Totally agree this should be pinned for newcomers!

Just wanted to add my experience for anyone with Discover Bank - my payments consistently hit around 5:45am on Tuesday mornings! I'm about 3 months into collecting and the timing has been super reliable. For first-timers waiting, I totally get the anxiety - my first payment took 16 days but came with full back pay. One thing that really helped me was creating a simple calendar reminder for my weekly certification (I do it every Sunday evening) and then just expecting the payment the following Tuesday. Way less stressful than constantly wondering when it'll come. Also if you're really worried something went wrong, the automated phone system someone mentioned earlier is clutch - just call and check your claim status without the hassle of trying to reach a human. The waiting game is rough but everyone's experiences here show it really is predictable once you know the pattern! πŸ’™

This is so helpful! Discover Bank at 5:45am Tuesday is really early - that's awesome for getting peace of mind first thing in the morning. I love the Sunday certification routine idea, seems like having that consistent schedule would make everything way more predictable. 16 days with full back pay sounds pretty standard based on everyone's experiences here. I'm still waiting on my first payment (day 5) and this thread has been incredible for setting realistic expectations. The automated phone system tip keeps coming up too - definitely going to try that if I start getting anxious. Thanks for sharing your 3-month experience, it's reassuring to know the timing becomes so reliable once you're in the system! πŸ™
