Need to know how to properly stop claiming New York Unemployment + COVID leave question
Got a new job and not sure if I need to do anything special to stop my unemployment claims. Also, might need to take a week off due to COVID. Anyone know if I should still claim for that week and how to answer the questions about being able to work?

You can just stop claiming, nothing else needed. The system automatically closes inactive claims after a few weeks. For COVID, you should still claim and mark that you were unable to work - make sure to note its due to mandatory quarantine.

Hey guys! I had the same problem reaching unemployment about this. Used this site called claimyr.com that calls and waits on hold, then connects you to an agent when they pick up. Costs $20 but totally worth it. Check out how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Got mandatory covid leave rn actually. You gotta claim and say you cudnt work, but keep documentation from work/doctor showing it was required quarantine

Congrats on the new job! 🎉 Make sure u print out ur payment history before u stop claiming. Sometimes the website is wonky and u might need it for tax season

Look, heres exactly what you need to do: 1. On your final claim, report your new employment 2. Answer all questions truthfully including start date and wages 3. For COVID leave, you can still claim but must indicate you were unable to work 4. Keep ALL documentation including: - Job offer letter - First pay stub - COVID test results - Quarantine orders If you need to speak with someone about this (which I recommend), use claimyr.com to get through to an agent. Way better than spending hours on hold. DONT just ghost your claim - they can come back later saying you committed fraud if you dont report the new job properly.
