I've been hearing different numbers about what the unemployment percentage is right now in NY and I'm wondering if this affects my chances of getting approved for benefits? My claim has been in adjudication for 2 weeks now and I'm starting to worry. Does anyone know if high unemployment rates make it easier or harder to get claims approved through NYS Department of Labor? I got laid off from my retail job last month and filed right away but haven't heard anything back yet.

I think the unemployment percentage in NY is around 4.2% right now but dont quote me on that lol. My claim took forever too, like 3 weeks before they approved it. Just keep filing your weekly claims even during adjudication!

ugh the whole system is such a mess regardless of what the unemployment rate is!!
