NYS Department of Labor unemployment claim - what day to file weekly certification?
I'm confused about the timing for filing my weekly unemployment claim with NYS Department of Labor. I just got laid off from my construction job last Friday and filed my initial claim on Monday. Now I'm not sure what day I'm supposed to file my weekly certifications. Do I file on the same day each week or does it depend on when I first applied? The my.ny.gov website isn't super clear about this and I don't want to mess up my benefits by filing on the wrong day.

You file your weekly claim on the same day of the week that you filed your initial application. Since you filed on Monday, you'll file every Monday going forward. NYS Department of Labor gives you a 3-day window though - so you can file Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday for your Monday filing day. Just make sure you're certifying for the week that ended the day before your filing day.
