NYS Department of Labor unemployment benefits - when you get unemployment what happens next?
I just got approved for unemployment benefits through NYS Department of Labor and I'm honestly not sure what happens next. My claim status changed to 'payable' yesterday but I haven't received any money yet. Do I need to do something else or just wait? Also, when am I supposed to start doing the weekly claims? The my.ny.gov portal shows I need to certify but I'm confused about the timing. This is my first time dealing with unemployment so any guidance would be really helpful.

Your first payment usually comes 2-3 business days after you file your first weekly claim. Make sure you're doing your job search activities and keeping a log - NYS Department of Labor requires 3 work search contacts per week.
