Finally got my unemployment benefits approved after being laid off when my company replaced our entire data processing department with automated systems. NYS Department of Labor is pretty good about processing these as standard layoffs as long as your employer documents it properly. Just make sure you're meeting the job search requirements - they're stricter now with 3 contacts per week minimum.

this is happening EVERYWHERE now. my friend lost her accounting job to some software that does what took her 8 hours in like 30 minutes. at least UI benefits are still there for now but who knows how long that'll last if everyone's getting replaced
