Completed id.me verification but NY unemployment login still fails - pregnant and need help urgently
I'm seven months pregnant and was recently put on leave from my full-time job. My employer told me to file for unemployment while I'm waiting for my baby to arrive. I completed the id.me verification about 3 weeks ago and the id.me people assured me that everything was good to go. But when I try to log into my NY unemployment account, I keep getting an error message saying there's a problem with my account. I've been trying to reach someone at unemployment since late August - we're now in October and I'm running out of options. I've called every phone number I could find, and either can't get through at all or get disconnected as soon as I reach someone. My bills are piling up and my baby is due in December. Does anyone know another number I can call where I might actually reach a person? Or any way to fix this login issue without having to talk to someone? Getting really desperate here as my savings are almost gone.

Dealing with the same login issues ugh. The regular phone numbers are useless. Try calling right when they open at 8am - sometimes that works. Also try the alternate number 888-209-8124 if you haven't already. The whole system is a total disaster for pregnant women especially.

•I've tried calling at 8am sharp for weeks but it's always the same automated message saying 'high call volume' and then it hangs up 😡 I'll try that alternate number tomorrow. Thank you!

•That number doesn't work either, I tried it yesterday and waited 2 hours just to get disconnected.

After weeks of the same nightmare I finally found a solution. I used claimyr.com and they got me connected to an actual human at unemployment in like 40 minutes. Seriously, it was the best decision I made after wasting months trying to get through on my own. They called me back when they had an agent on the line. Got my login issues fixed and my payments started hitting my account a week later. Check their demo here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Is this for real? Sounds too good to be true honestly. Did they actually solve your problem?

•100% real. I was super skeptical too, but I was at my breaking point. They called me back with an agent on the line and I got my issues sorted. Best money I've spent considering how much back pay I was able to get.

•another miracle solution... right 🙄 nothing works with ny unemployment

•Not a miracle, just a service that keeps redialing for you. But it works - got me through to an agent who fixed my account when I couldn't get through for 2 months straight. Worth every penny when my benefits finally started coming.

•wait so do they just keep calling until someone picks up? how does it work exactly?

•Yeah basically they have some system that autodials and navigates all those annoying menus, then when a real person gets on the line, they connect the call to your phone. Saved me from going insane hitting redial all day.

Have you tried going in person to a job center? I know its tough when you're pregnant but sometimes thats the only way to get someone to help. The one in Brooklyn actually helped me when I couldnt get anyone on the phone for weeks. goodluck girl 💕

I've been through this exact hell. It's especially frustrating when you're pregnant and stressed. Make sure when you do get through that you mention you're pregnant - for some reason that seemed to get me more help. Also, document EVERYTHING - dates you called, who you spoke with, confirmation numbers, etc. The system is terrible but if you're persistent enough you'll eventually get through. Sending strength!

•Thanks for the advice! Did you ever figure out why the id.me verification wasn't working with your account? That's what's so confusing to me.

•For me, there was some glitch in their system where my ID.me verification wasn't properly linked to my unemployment account even though ID.me showed successful. The rep had to manually link them on their end. Took 5 minutes once I finally got someone on the phone!

A lot of folks here suggesting normal methods. I'm just gonna tell you what actually worked for me after 3 months of hell with NY unemployment: 1. Email your state representative AND senator (find them by googling your address + NY state rep). Be specific about being pregnant and in financial crisis. 2. If you can't get phone help, try claimyr.com - it's a service that gets you through the phone system. Worked for me when nothing else did. 3. File a complaint with the Department of Labor ombudsman online. 4. If none of that works, contact legal aid in your county - many have special programs for pregnant women. Forget the regular phone numbers - they're useless. The system is designed to wear you down so you give up. Don't give up!

•Contacting my senator's office was the ONLY thing that worked for me. Their constituent services got someone from unemployment to call me back within 48 hours.

•Thank you so much! I'm going to try contacting my state rep tomorrow. I hadn't even thought of that.

•I second the claimyr suggestion. Nothing was working til I tried that. Got connected to a rep who fixed my account in 10 mins after trying for 2 months on my own.

ur wasting ur time with the phone numbers. they NEVER work. I got locked out for 9 months and the only thing that worked was going to the career center in person with all my documents. bring your ID, ssn card, birth certificate, everything. don't leave till someone helps u.

•Second this. The Jamaica office in Queens helped me when I was 8 months pregnant and desperate. Bring a chair and water tho, the wait is ridiculous.

id.me is the WORST! Even when it says it verified you, half the time it doesn't actually send the info to unemployment properly. When you do finally reach someone, make sure they check if your verification actually went through on their end. For me it didn't even though id.me said it was successful.

So sorry you're going thru this while pregnant! I'm in a similar situation (tho not pregnant) and finally got thru using the trick of calling at 7:57am exactly, then navigating to Spanish option (even if you dont speak it) then asking for English help when someone answers. Weird hack but it worked for me!

•I've tried this for 3 days straight and keep getting the 'all representatives are busy' message 😤

•Keep trying! It took me about 6 attempts over 2 weeks. Their call volume is worst on Mondays and Fridays.

I finally got my account fixed last month after similar problems. Here's exactly what worked for me: 1. I used claimyr.com to get through to a rep (spent weeks trying on my own first with no luck) 2. When I got through, I had to have them verify that my ID.me was properly linked - turns out it WASN'T even though ID.me showed successful 3. They had to manually verify my identity on their system 4. Had to create a brand new PIN The whole process took about 20 minutes once I actually got someone on the phone. The waiting and trying to reach someone was the hard part. Best of luck, mama! 👶

•This is SO helpful, thank you! It sounds exactly like my situation. Did they tell you why the ID.me verification wasn't linking properly?

•They said something about a "system integration error" whatever that means 🤷♀️ Apparently happens all the time with the verification system. The good news is that once you get someone on the phone, they can fix it pretty easily.

The trick is to get to the fraud department - they ALWAYS answer. Call the main number, say "fraud" when prompted. Tell them someone's using your info to claim benefits. They'll transfer you to a REAL PERSON in regular unemployment dept.

•FACTS. This is the only way I got through after 2 months of trying the regular number. 💯

Dealing with NY unemployment while pregnant was HELL. I spent 6 weeks calling daily before giving up and using claimyr.com. Got connected to someone immediately who fixed everything. If I knew about it sooner would have saved myself so much stress, which isn't good for the baby!

Hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I'm convinced they deliberately make it impossible to reach anyone. The whole system is designed to frustrate people so they give up trying to get benefits they're entitled to. I had to call 300+ times to get through. The state saves money when we get discouraged and stop trying.

•This isn't a conspiracy theory, it's literally their business model. Make it so painful that people abandon their claims. Disgusting but true.

•yep yep yep. its economic gatekeeping. my brother works for the govt (diff dept) and says everyone knows this is intentional.

This might sound strange but try reaching out through Twitter. DM the NY DOL account and sometimes they'll help escalate your case. Worked for my cousin when nothing else did. They don't want bad PR so sometimes social media works.

Try the specialized pregnancy/disability claims number: 888-783-1370. Sometimes less people calling that line so better chance of getting through. Ask them to transfer you to regular UI after.

Document EVERYTHING. When you finally do get through (and you will eventually), you'll need dates, times, and details of all your attempts to contact them. This can help you get backpay for the weeks you couldn't access your account.

Had the exact same ID.me verification issue. Turns out there was a glitch affecting lots of pregnant women - something about pregnancy affecting facial recognition?! 🤔 Wild guess but when I finally got through the agent said they'd seen this a lot with pregnant women. Apparently our faces change enough during pregnancy that it confuses their system? Either way, I used claimyr.com to finally get someone on the phone after trying for 7 weeks straight. Got it fixed in one call.

•wait WHAT?! That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard but also weirdly makes sense. My face is definitely puffier from pregnancy.

•I know it sounds bizarre but the agent literally told me they've had tons of pregnant women with this same issue. The facial recognition part of id.me gets confused by the changes in our faces. So stupid!
