Can I get New York Unemployment for temporary disability from broken foot?
Been out of work for a month now because of a broken foot. Doctor says I might need another 2-3 weeks to recover. Not sure if I can get unemployment since its medical related. Anyone know if I qualify?

You probably don't qualify for unemployment since you cant work due to medical reasons. You should apply for temporary disability instead (NYS DB). Your employer should have given you info about this when you got hurt.

•Go to ny.gov/disability and fill out the DB-450 form. Your doctor needs to fill out part of it too. Get on it asap cause theres a 30 day deadline!

Hey I was in the same situation last year. I used claimyr.com to get through to disability on the phone. Its $20 but they got me connected to someone in like 45 mins. Here's how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Unemployment is for when ur ready and ABLE to work but cant find a job. If ur injured you need disability benefits

Listen up fam, here's the full breakdown on what you need to do: First off, Unemployment isn't what you need - it's specifically for people who CAN work but lost their job. For medical stuff like your broken foot, you need NYS Disability Benefits (DB). Here's what to do: 1. Get that DB-450 form filled out ASAP 2. Have your doc document everything 3. Submit within 30 days of becoming disabled 4. Benefits can be up to $170/week If you're struggling to get through on the phone (and trust me, you will), check out claimyr.com. They'll handle the hold times for $20. Totally worth it vs spending days trying to get through. BTW - make sure your job is holding your position. Most employers have to under FMLA if you qualify.
