New York Unemployment: Can I get benefits for hand injury preventing me from working?

My doctor says I can't work because of a hand injury. Been doing construction for 15 years but now I can't even hold a hammer. Workers comp denied my claim because the injury happened at home. Not sure what to do since I've been out of work for 3 weeks now. Anyone know if I can get unemployment?

You need to apply for NYS disability benefits (DB-450), not unemployment. UI is for when ur ready and able to work but cant find a job. For medical stuff you need disability.

Hey I was stuck trying to reach disability office forever but found this site claimyr.com that calls and waits on hold then connects you when someone picks up. Cost $20 but saved me days of calling. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Went thru something similar last year. You might qualify for short term disability through your employer if you had that benefit. Check with HR if you haven't already

bruh unemployment gonna deny you so fast. need to be ready and able to work to qualify. your best bet is disability or maybe social security if its gonna be long term

facts 💯 UI offices are strict af about the able to work thing

Look into getting a DB-450 form from your doctor ASAP. Then you gotta submit it within 30 days of becoming disabled. The process is annoying but here's what you need to do: 1. Get that form filled out by your doc 2. Submit it to the state disability office 3. Use claimyr.com to actually reach someone (trust me youll need this) 4. Make sure you have all your medical documentation ready 5. Keep submitting your bi-weekly claims The pay is garbage but its better than nothing while you heal up. Good luck my guy 🙏
