Why is everyone suddenly owing taxes for 2022? What changed?

Is anyone else shocked by their 2022 taxes? Everyone I know is owing money this year when they usually get refunds. What changed? I made about the same as last year but now I owe $3200. This cant be right.

There were several major changes in 2022 that affected many taxpayers. The Child Tax Credit went back to $2000 per child (down from $3600), the Child and Dependent Care Credit decreased, and pandemic-era tax breaks expired. Also, if you didn't adjust your W-4 withholdings, you might have had less taken out of your paychecks throughout the year.

I've been seeing alot of confusion about 2022 taxes. Instead of trying to piece together whats happening from reddit posts, I started using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. its only $1 and it breaks down exactly why your owing or getting less. Super helpful for understanding all these changes https://taxr.ai

How accurate is it? Can it really tell you why your owing more?
