Refund Approved But Won't Be Mailed Until December 7th After Filing in March - Need It Sooner
Filed my taxes back in March and still no refund. The WMR tool just shows processing and my transcript hasn't updated at all. I just checked my Refund Status online and it shows: Refund Status Return Received ✓ Refund Approved ✓ Refund Sent Your tax refund is scheduled to be mailed by December 7, 2024. If you do not receive the refund by January 4, 2025, please contact us again. We are unable to take any action until then. Please Note: For refund information, please continue to check here, or visit IRS.gov/Refunds. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day. Really need this money before December 7th. I was counting on having it much sooner since I filed in March. Anyone know if there's any hope to speed up the process, or am I just stuck waiting until December? Is there a way to change to direct deposit at this point instead of waiting for a mailed check? I don't understand why it's taking so long when I filed electronically 8 months ago. This is ridiculous!

Tax professional here. When there are no transcript updates, it usually means your return is still in the initial processing queue or has been selected for review. The IRS is currently experiencing significant delays, especially with prior year returns. To get more clarity on your situation, I'd highly recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) - it's a new AI tool that analyzes your tax documents and gives you specific insights about processing times and potential holds. It can tell you exactly what's causing the delay and what steps you need to take to get your refund moving.

•How does taxr.ai work? Does it just read transcripts or what? 🤔

Unfortunately there's no way to guarantee when you'll receive your refund without more information. What cycle code are you? Any particular codes showing on your transcript that might indicate why its delayed?

•You'll need to get your transcript from irs.gov to see all that info. Its free but can be a pain to access sometimes

Just got my refund issue sorted using taxr.ai - totally worth the $1. It analyzed my transcript and told me exactly why I was delayed and what to do about it. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself https://taxr.ai

Check if you have any 570/971 codes on your account transcript. Those usually mean there's some kind of hold up they need to review.

•how do I even check those codes?

•login to irs.gov and download your transcript. but honestly just use taxr.ai, it'll explain everything way better than I can
