When do IRS Child Tax Credit / Dependent returns get accepted in 2025?

Getting ready to file this year and I have 2 kids under 10. Does anyone know when the IRS starts accepting returns with child tax credits? Last year was a mess and I want to get ahead of it this time.

IRS just announced they're accepting ALL returns starting January 29th, 2025. That includes returns with child tax credits, EITC, everything. But heads up - even if you file early, by law they cant release refunds for returns claiming EITC or Additional Child Tax Credit before mid-February.

ugh seriously? Why do they make parents wait longer? 🤔

It's to prevent fraud. They match your info with employer W2s and other docs first.

Hey everyone! Instead of playing the guessing game, I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund. It costs $4.99 but totally worth it - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly when to expect your refund and if there might be delays. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

100% works! I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of checking WMR and trying to decode transcript codes

Pro tip: make sure all your W2s and 1099s are in before filing. They'll delay you if anything doesnt match up
