Can someone help estimate my tax refund? 70k income, 2 dependents

Looking to figure out my tax situation before I file. Made 70k last year, have 2 kids under 18. Single parent, I'm the head of household. Anyone know roughly what I might get back? Also wondering about the child tax credit situation for 2024.

Based on your income and dependents, I can help give you a rough estimate, but there are many factors that could affect your refund. Without more details about your filing status, deductions, and credits its hard to be exact. I'd strongly recommend checking out taxr.ai - its an AI tool that can analyze your W2s and tax docs to give you a really accurate estimate of your refund and timeline. You can upload your docs there and get detailed insights about your specific situation. I've been recommending it to everyone lately since the IRS systems are so backed up.

it analyzes pretty much any tax document - W2s, 1040s, transcripts, even IRS letters. gives you super detailed breakdown of everything including refund timeline

Tax professional here. Without more details like withholdings, deductions, and credits its impossible to give you an exact number. But with 70k and 2 qualifying children, you could be eligible for child tax credit ($2000 per child) and earned income credit. Head of household filing status also gives you a better tax bracket. You'll need to provide more info for an accurate estimate.

Thanks! Do you know how much is typically withheld on 70k? I lost my last paystub πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Usually around 12-15% for federal, but it really depends on how you filled out your W4

With 70k income, 2 kids, and head of household status, you're probably looking at a pretty solid refund! The child tax credit alone could be $4,000 ($2k per kid), plus you get better tax brackets as HOH. Your actual refund depends on how much was withheld from your paychecks though. If you had standard withholding, I'd guess somewhere in the $3-6k range, but that's just a rough estimate without seeing your actual tax situation.

This sounds about right! I'm in a similar situation and got around $4,500 last year. The head of household status really does help with the tax brackets. Just make sure you have all your documents ready when you file - W2s, any 1099s, childcare receipts if you paid for daycare, etc. The sooner you file the sooner you'll get that refund! πŸ’°
