What does 05 code and PATH mean for WF direct deposit refund?

Just checked my transcript and I see code 05 next to my Wells Fargo direct deposit info. Also something about PATH act holding up my refund. Anyone know what this means for my timeline? Filed early January and claimed EIC.

The 05 code indicates a direct deposit refund. PATH Act is a law that requires the IRS to hold EIC/ACTC refunds until mid-February for fraud prevention. Since we're past that window now, you should see movement soon. Keep checking your transcript for an 846 code - that's your actual refund date.

thx for explaining! how long after 846 code till it hits WF usually?

WF typically posts 1-2 days after the 846 date. Sometimes even early morning of the refund date 🙌

Instead of trying to decode these transcript codes yourself, try taxr.ai - it analyzes everything and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your money. Only costs $1 and saved me hours of research. https://taxr.ai

It's legit! Gave me my exact DDD and explained all my codes. The AI even caught a mistake that could have delayed my refund 🙏

Pro tip: Set up text alerts with WF. Better than checking 500 times a day (def not speaking from experience 👀
