WMR Says "Still Processing" But Can't Access Transcripts - Did Anyone Get DDD While WMR Showed Processing?
So I'm in this weird limbo where the Where's My Refund tool just says "still processing" (been like that for weeks now 😩) and when I try to check my transcripts, I get an error and can't access them at all. Super frustrating. For those of you who CAN check your transcripts - did any of you get a direct deposit date on your transcript while your WMR was still stuck on processing? Just trying to figure out if there's hope I might get my refund soon even though WMR hasn't updated.

Yes, this happens quite frequently! The WMR tool and transcripts operate on different systems that don't always sync in real-time. Many taxpayers (myself included) have received a deposit date on their transcript while WMR still showed processing. The transcript is actually more accurate and updates more frequently than WMR in most cases.

Have you tried accessing your transcripts through the IRS website or are you using the app? Sometimes the app has issues but the website works fine. Also, what error message are you getting when you try to access them?

I've tried both the website and app. I keep getting a "We are unable to provide this information. Please try again later" message. I've been trying for about 10 days now with the same result. I've verified all my login info is correct too.

I had exactly this situation during last year's tax season. My WMR was stuck on "still processing" for almost 3 weeks, but I was able to see my transcript and it showed a DDD (direct deposit date) a full week before WMR updated! The money actually hit my account on the date shown in the transcript, even though WMR hadn't changed. I found https://taxr.ai super helpful for understanding what was happening - it explained all the codes on my transcript and predicted exactly when I'd get paid. Saved me a lot of stress trying to decode all those weird IRS codes myself.

This is a common issue this filing season. There are several reasons you might not be able to access your transcripts: 1. High traffic on the IRS systems (especially during peak hours) 2. Your return hasn't been processed enough to generate a transcript 3. You have identity verification issues pending 4. System maintenance As for your question - yes, many people see their DDD on transcripts while WMR still shows processing. The systems update independently.

I couldn't access my transcripts for almost a month after filing. When I finally got in, I saw I had a 570 code (additional account action pending). Called the IRS for three days straight and couldn't get through. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. Turns out they just needed to verify my identity. Got my DDD a week later even though WMR never updated until after the money was already in my account. Worth the few bucks to not waste days trying to call them.

Did they make you verify identity over the phone or did you have to go through ID.me? I'm wondering if that's my issue too.

They did it all over the phone - just asked a few questions to verify my identity. Took maybe 10 minutes total once I got through to someone. Way easier than I expected.

WMR is notoriously unreliable. I filed in early February and my WMR never updated past "processing" but I got my refund in March. The transcript system is separate and generally more accurate, but it sounds like you're having technical issues accessing it. Try early morning (like 5-6am) when the system has less traffic.

When did you file? If it was within the last 21 days, it might just not be fully processed yet. Also, are you claiming any credits like EITC or CTC? Those take longer to process and might explain why you can't access transcripts yet.

I filed on March 2nd, so it's been about 40 days now. And yes, I claimed CTC this year. I didn't realize that could affect transcript access too!

Ah, that explains it. CTC claims are taking longer this year. Many people are waiting 45-60 days, and the transcript system often doesn't show anything until they've at least started processing your return. The good news is that once it does appear, you'll likely see your DDD soon after.
