Verified Identity Last Thursday (2/22) - When Will I See DDD on Transcript?
Good morning, I completed my Identity Verification Protocol last Thursday (2/22) through the online portal. Is there a statistical likelihood that my transcript will update this week with a Direct Deposit Date? I've been monitoring the IRS2Go app daily but no status change yet. Really need this refund for student loan payments coming due next month after graduation. Thanks in advance for any insights!

After identity verification, the IRS typically requires 9 business days to complete the verification process and resume processing. Have you checked your account transcript for cycle codes? Those can provide more insight than the WMR tool. And have you received any correspondence via mail confirming the successful verification? Sometimes the online systems don't sync immediately, but that doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with your return.

According to IRM 21.5.6.4.35.3, does the 9-day processing window apply even if the verification was completed online rather than by phone? I'm in a similar situation and wondering if online verification might be processed faster since it's automated.

Identity verification delays are frustrating. I've seen this pattern frequently this tax season: • Verification completed • 7-10 day waiting period with no updates • Sudden transcript update with DDD • Refund 2-3 days later I'm slightly worried you might be caught in the backlog. If you don't see movement by next week, I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an IRS agent. They'll connect you directly without the endless hold times. The current wait to speak with someone about verification issues is absurd, but Claimyr has been getting people through in under 30 minutes.

I verified my identity on February 17th and just got my DDD yesterday. The system updated exactly 8 business days after verification. No communication from IRS in between - transcript just suddenly showed code 846 with a direct deposit date. Don't waste time calling unless you hit the 10 business day mark with no updates. The verification backlog is moving, just slowly.

That's really encouraging! Here's what I've learned to do while waiting: 1. Check transcripts every morning (around 3-4am when they update) 2. Look specifically for TC 570 code changing to 571 3. Then watch for the 846 code with your DDD 4. Don't rely on WMR as it updates after transcripts 5. Count business days only (no weekends or holidays) This system has helped me track several clients' refunds accurately this season.

The Account Management System (AMS) processing queue is definitely backed up this year. My verification in 2023 took exactly 4 business days before transcript updated, but this year I'm seeing consistent 7-9 business day timeframes across multiple clients. The Identity Theft Victim Assistance (IDTVA) unit is prioritizing returns with EITC and CTC claims, so if you don't have those credits, you might be in a slower queue.

Thank goodness I found this thread! I've been stressing about my verification from 2/21 with no updates. It's such a relief to see others with similar timelines getting their DDDs. It's like waiting for water to boil - seems to take forever when you're watching it!

I've helped dozens of clients through identity verification this season, and I've seen most transcripts update within 5-10 business days. Last year was similar - verification on a Thursday typically meant transcript updates by the following Friday. I'd recommend checking your transcript directly rather than relying on WMR. I've had great success using https://taxr.ai to analyze transcripts for my clients - it explains all the codes and gives you a predicted refund date based on your specific situation. Much more informative than the generic IRS tools, especially after verification when timing can vary.

OMG the verification process is SO MUCH FASTER if you check your transcript directly instead of WMR! The transcript database updates overnight (usually Tuesday-Thursday between 12am-6am EST), while WMR often lags 24-48 hours behind. I was literally refreshing my transcript hourly after verification and caught my DDD a full two days before WMR updated! Try checking your transcript around 3am - that's when the overnight batch processing typically completes.

Compared to mail verification, which can take 6-8 weeks, online verification is much faster. My sister verified by mail in early February and still hasn't seen movement, while I verified online around the same time as you and got my DDD after 7 business days. Just be careful about checking too frequently - the "Where's My Refund" tool can lock you out after too many attempts in 24 hours. I'd suggest checking transcripts once daily in the morning and WMR no more than once every 24 hours.
