Treasury Check Issues: Banks Declining IRS Refund Checks as Fraud + 810 Code Problems

This is getting ridiculous with these treasury checks. Mine got declined by my bank because they thought it was fraud since its so late in the tax season. Called the bank and they said they're seeing lots of stolen checks lately. Got the 810 freeze code now and have to start this whole process over. Why cant the IRS just let us pick up checks from local offices or give banks a heads up about late refunds being legit?

Tax professional here. The 810 freeze code is a fraud prevention measure that's affecting many taxpayers right now. Your best bet is to contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) and your local congressman. Document everything - all communications with your bank and the IRS. Keep all rejection notices.

Just used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript with the 810 code. It actually gave me a detailed timeline and exactly what I need to do to get the freeze removed. Saved me hours of research and guesswork. Here's the link if anyone needs it: https://taxr.ai

Pro tip: Go to your local IRS office WITH ID and explain the situation. Sometimes they can help verify the check is legit with your bank
