Transcript Still Shows No Return Filed - Standard Timeline?

I've been tracking my tax return process methodically and have questions about the transcript timeline. Here's my current situation: 1. I e-filed my return on March 12, 2024 2. Received confirmation from tax software that IRS accepted the filing 3. Checked WMR tool which shows "Return Received" 4. Accessed my IRS transcript online today (April 2) 5. Transcript still shows "No return filed" for 2023 Is this normal at this stage? I'm working remotely and need to plan my finances accordingly. What is the standard timeframe for transcript updates after filing?

This is completely normal for this time in the tax season. Here's what you should know: • Transcripts often lag behind actual processing by 1-3 weeks • The "No return filed" status doesn't mean there's a problem • E-filed returns typically update faster than paper returns • If WMR shows "Return Received," your return is in the system • Most returns update within 21 days, but can take longer during peak season • Credits like EIC or CTC can extend processing time significantly I would recommend checking your transcript once per week rather than daily to avoid unnecessary stress.

Does that 21-day timeline start from acceptance date or filing date? My tax preparer submitted mine on February 15, but it wasn't accepted until February 18.

I filed on January 29, 2024 and my transcript didn't update until February 22! Was shocked it took that long since I filed the very first day possible. The transcript suddenly showed everything at once - return received, processed, and refund approved all on the same day.

I think you're still within normal timeframes... My transcript took about 4 weeks to show anything after filing this year. I was getting a bit worried too, but then it suddenly updated. I'm pretty sure the IRS is just overwhelmed with returns right now, especially since we're in the middle of tax season.

Did you notice any difference in processing time based on whether you were getting a refund or owed money? I've heard returns with refunds due might take longer to process than those where you owe, but I'm not sure if that's actually true.

My transcript was showing the dreaded "No return filed" message for almost 5 weeks this year! I kept checking it every morning with my coffee like I was checking sports scores. 😅 Started to worry something was wrong, but then BAM - one day everything appeared at once. The system is probably just backed up with all the returns coming in now.

SAME EXACT THING happened to me! I was refreshing my transcript every day for weeks, and then suddenly my Account Transcript updated with TC150 (return filed), TC806 (withholding credit), and TC846 (refund issued) all at once. Such a relief after weeks of nothing.

If you're particularly concerned about your transcript status, you might want to consider contacting the IRS directly. I've found that calling them can be somewhat helpful, though the wait times are generally quite long at this point in the tax season. Perhaps you could try using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) which seems to help people get through to an IRS agent much faster. I believe they essentially hold your place in line so you don't have to stay on hold for hours. It might be worth looking into if you're feeling uncertain about your filing status?

OMG don't panic yet! My transcript was MIA for like 6 weeks last yr and I freaked out for nothing. Turns out my return got flagged for a random review bc I had a W-2 and 1099 income. Nothing was wrong with my return but the transcript didn't update until the review was done. Def check if u have anything unusual on ur return that might trigger extra review time.

Same situation here but even longer - filed February 2nd and transcript didn't update until April 10th. Called multiple times and kept getting the standard "still processing" response. Meanwhile my spouse filed the same day and got their refund in 2 weeks. So frustrating when you can't get a straight answer.

The IRS system is like a black box sometimes - things go in and you have no idea what's happening inside. I had a similar experience where my transcript was empty for weeks, then suddenly everything appeared. It's like watching a pot that never boils until you stop looking at it.

Based on my experience helping others in this community, here's what I've observed: - 78% of e-filed returns show on transcripts within 21 days - Another 15% appear between days 22-35 - The remaining 7% can take 36+ days, especially during peak season Since you filed on March 12, you're currently at day 21. I'd give it another 7-10 days before getting concerned. The fact that WMR shows "Return Received" is a good sign - the systems just haven't synced up yet. I understand the anxiety of waiting, especially when planning finances.

I've been filing taxes for over 20 years, and I've noticed the transcript update timing has gotten much less predictable in recent years. Back in 2018, my transcript updated exactly 14 days after filing, like clockwork. Last year, I filed February 1st and my transcript didn't update until March 3rd, but my refund was deposited just 4 days later. The transcript system seems to be the last thing that updates in their process now.

Mine took 25 days. Filed February 5. Transcript updated March 2. Refund deposited March 5. No issues with return. Normal processing time. Don't worry yet. Check weekly not daily.
