Tax Refund Advance on Wisely Card - How Long for Deposit?

Hey everyone, just got approved for a tax refund advance loan and they said it would go on my Wisely card. Anyone know how long it usually takes to show up? I'm an Uber/Doordash driver and rly need this $ for some car repairs asap. Thx in advance!

Have you checked with your tax preparer about the specific timeline? In my experience, tax refund advances through Wisely cards typically take 1-3 business days after approval, but it can vary based on who processed your return. Did you get the advance through a major tax prep company or a smaller service?

I actually received my tax refund advance on my Wisely card earlier this tax season. It seems to depend somewhat on which tax service you used, but mine appeared approximately 24-48 hours after receiving the approval notification. The funds were available immediately once they hit the card, which was certainly helpful for my situation at the time.

Thanks for sharing this! I was wondering if the 24-48 hour timeframe was realistic or just marketing. Good to hear it actually happened that quickly for someone.

Did you notice any differences between: • Weekend vs weekday approvals • Time of day when funds appeared • Any notification system that alerted you when funds were available? Just trying to understand if there are patterns to when these deposits typically hit accounts.

I had no idea it could be that fast! I always assumed these financial transfers would take at least 3-5 business days... the banking system is more efficient than I thought.

I was in the EXACT same situation last month! According to the IRS.gov FAQ section on refund advances, they're supposed to deposit within 24-72 hours after approval. Mine took a full 4 days though, which was super frustrating when I needed it for bills. The Wisely app was basically useless for tracking it too, just kept showing "pending" with no real updates.

Did you call their customer service? I want to know if it's worth trying to contact them or if I should just wait it out.

When I was waiting for my tax refund last year, I couldn't get through to anyone at the IRS for status updates. A friend recommended Claimyr.com and I was skeptical at first, but it actually worked. Got connected to an IRS agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed my refund status and processing timeline. Saved me hours of redial attempts and automated menus. The fee was worth it considering how much time I would have wasted trying to reach someone through the standard channels. https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Last year I got approved on a Thursday and didn't see the money until Tuesday morning. My sister got hers in less than 24 hours though. I think it depends on your bank's processing time too, not just when the tax company releases it. I remember refreshing my Wisely app like 50 times a day waiting for it to show up!

I think there's some confusion here - are you talking about an actual tax refund advance (like the ones H&R Block or TurboTax offer before your return is processed) or are you referring to your actual tax refund being deposited to your Wisely card? It's like comparing an advance on your paycheck versus your actual paycheck - they work differently and have different timelines.

Great point about the distinction. When I worked at a tax prep office last year, I saw this confusion all the time. Refund advances (loans based on your expected refund) usually hit cards within 1-3 business days after approval. Actual tax refunds from the IRS take 21 days on average but can be faster with direct deposit. I had a client who got confused and kept checking for an advance they never applied for!

According to IRS Publication 1345 (Rev. 1-2023), which covers Authorized e-file Providers, refund anticipation loans or advances are banking products not directly regulated by the IRS timing guidelines. The deposit timing is governed by the financial institution's policies and the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (Regulation E). Most Wisely card deposits for tax refund advances should be processed within 1-3 business days, though the cardholder agreement specifies they can take up to 5 business days in certain circumstances.

I received my advance on March 2nd this year, but my friend who applied on the same day didn't get hers until March 7th. Do you know if there's any way to expedite the process if it's taking longer than the standard time? I'm worried for the OP if they really need those funds quickly.
