Refund Deposit Day? Everyone's gone quiet in here
Everyone must of got paid bc it's quiet in here tonight 😂 Was expecting more activity since it's peak refund szn. I'm still waiting on mine (filed 3/1) but my transcript finally updated yesterday. Anyone else still in the waiting game? Btw I'm 1099 this yr so I know that might slow things down a bit.

Isn't it funny how this sub cycles between absolute chaos and total silence? One day it's hundreds of people panicking about their refunds, and the next day it's a ghost town because everyone got their deposits? I've been checking WMR obsessively all week and still stuck on "processing" despite my transcript updating.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Filed on March 4th, transcript updated exactly 21 days later showing a refund amount of $3,247.68, but WMR still says processing. I check it precisely 4 times per day hoping for movement. Trying to budget for a car repair and this waiting game is killing me.

Same. Filed February 28th. Transcript updated. No deposit. This happens every year. Nothing new.

I've noticed this pattern every Wednesday and Thursday during tax season! Last year around this same time, the sub went completely silent after a major deposit day. You're definitely right about the 1099 situation - I remember when I switched from W-2 to contractor work, my processing time went from 14 days to almost 38 days. Hang in there - if your transcript updated yesterday, you're likely looking at a deposit within the next 5-7 days! Time is running out to get ahead of this though.

Per Internal Revenue Manual section 21.4.1.3, the processing timeframe for returns with self-employment income typically extends 7-14 calendar days beyond standard processing due to additional verification procedures. This is especially true for first-time 1099 filers or those with significant year-over-year income changes. Your transcript update is an encouraging sign that you've cleared the initial verification stage.

It's like watching a restaurant after the dinner rush - suddenly everyone's satisfied and gone home! My transcript updated last Friday and I got my deposit this morning. The IRS processing system is like a pipeline - once you see movement on your transcript, you're almost at the end of the pipe. The quiet in this sub is definitely because a bunch of people just got their money and vanished like they found the exit at IKEA.

Did you have any particular codes on your transcript before it updated? And how long exactly between your transcript showing a refund date and the actual deposit? I've got a 570 code that just changed to 571 yesterday, but still no DDD.

According to the IRS2Go app and the Where's My Refund tool, transcript updates typically happen overnight between Wednesday and Friday, with deposits following 1-5 business days later. Since you're self-employed with 1099 income, you're right that processing times are longer. If you need to speak with someone at the IRS about your specific situation, I've had great success using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). It saved me hours of hold time last week when I needed clarification on my 1099 processing delay - got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes when I'd spent days trying on my own.

Def a deposit day lol. Happened to me last yr too - was checking the sub constantly, then suddenly everyone disappeared. That's how you know the $$ hit. Being 1099 is gonna add time tho. I've been 1099 for 4 yrs and it ALWAYS takes longer bc they verify self-employment income more carefully. My rule of thumb: add 2-3 wks to whatever timeline W-2 ppl are seeing. Transcript update is good news tho!

There's a predictable pattern to the silence in this sub that correlates with deposit days. Here's what typically happens: 1. Mass transcript updates (usually Thursday/Friday) 2. DDD dates appear for most people (typically 5-7 days out) 3. Deposits hit accounts (often Wednesday/Thursday) 4. Sub goes silent for 24-48 hours 5. New wave of filers starts panicking I'm skeptical of anyone claiming there's a way to speed this up, especially for 1099 filers. Self-employment income triggers additional verification steps that simply take time to clear.

If you filed on March 1st and your transcript just updated on April 2nd, that's actually right on schedule for 1099 filers this year. Last year I filed on February 15th, 2023 and my transcript updated on March 18th, 2023, with deposit hitting on March 22nd, 2023. The IRS is actually processing 1099 returns about 2-3 days faster this year compared to last. I'd suggest checking your bank account on April 5th or April 8th as those are likely deposit dates based on current patterns.

Do you know if having Schedule C income affects the verification timeline differently than having just 1099-NEC forms? My return includes both self-employment income and some contract work, and I'm wondering if that might extend the processing time even further?

I noticed something interesting when I checked the IRS refund statistics page yesterday. They've processed about 18% more returns compared to this time last year, but they're also holding more returns for manual review. For what it's worth, I just got access to my transcript this morning after weeks of N/A status, and I'm also a 1099 contractor. Maybe we're in the same batch.
