O505 DDD for 5/21 - Chime Bank Early Deposit Today?

Just checked my transcript and saw: • Code O505 appeared • Direct Deposit Date shows 5/21 • Banking with Chime • Wondering if deposit might come early? • Maybe this afternoon? • Really need this money for medication I'm not very good with all this online stuff. Can someone tell me if Chime usually deposits early? My social security comes on time but never dealt with tax refund to Chime before.

I don't want to get your hopes up too much, but Chime is known for releasing deposits early when they receive the notification from the IRS. However, there's no guarantee it will happen today specifically. The IRS might have set 5/21 as your official date, but they sometimes send the funds a few days earlier. Chime typically releases them as soon as they get the notification, which could be today, tomorrow, or closer to your actual DDD.

Have you received any notification from Chime about a pending deposit? This might help determine timing. Here's what to check: 1. Open your Chime app 2. Look at your transaction history 3. Check for any pending deposits 4. Also check your email for notifications from Chime 5. Sometimes they send a message when they receive notification of an incoming deposit

I just checked the app. Nothing pending yet. No emails either. I keep refreshing every 15 minutes! 😅 My arthritis medicine costs a fortune and I'm almost out. This refund couldn't come at a better time. Just hoping it hits today so I can get to the pharmacy before the weekend.

Been there. Waiting for IRS money is stressful. Called them once about a similar situation. Took three days of trying. Used Claimyr instead last time. Got through in 20 minutes. Agent confirmed exact deposit timing. Worth it if you're anxious about the money. https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Did u check ur transcript for any other codes? Sometimes there's a freeze code that might delay things even w/ a DDD. Also, what time of day did u see the update? IRS usually updates overnight, so if it just appeared today that might affect timing.

I had this exact situation last month! According to IRS Publication 2043 (Information for Taxpayers Expecting Refunds), the DDD is the date the IRS releases funds to your financial institution. Chime posted my refund TWO full days before my DDD. Checked at lunch and there it was! I was shocked since my expected date was a Friday and it came Wednesday.

In my experience with Chime and tax refunds, they typically deposit 2-3 days before the official DDD. Last year my DDD was a Thursday and I got it on Tuesday afternoon. The year before that was similar timing. It seems to depend on exactly when the IRS releases the funds and how quickly Chime processes them. Have you had any other deposits with Chime before?

The O505 code specifically indicates "Refund issued" in the IRS master file system, which means the transfer to your financial institution has been initiated! When I got this code with Chime last year, my deposit appeared approximately 48 hours later. The IRS uses the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network which typically processes in 1-2 business days, and then Chime's early payday feature often releases funds as soon as they receive the ACH notification rather than waiting for the official settlement date. I'm surprised more banks don't offer this feature!
