Need help with IRS collections for business tax payment plan - what to expect?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some IRS collections issues and need to set up a business tax payment plan. Has anyone gone through this process before? What should I expect when I call them? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, been there done that. It's a real pain in the a$$. Make sure you have all your financials in order before you call. They're gonna ask for a ton of info.

For real tho. I spent like 3 hours gathering all my docs before I even picked up the phone. Better to be over-prepared than under!

What kind of info did they ask for? I'm about to go thru this myself and I'm kinda freakin out 😰

They wanted my profit and loss statements, balance sheets, list of assets, monthly expenses... basically my whole financial life story lol. It's a lot, but just take it step by step.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? 🤔

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Totally worth the 20 bucks imo.

Is it legit tho? Like, is it safe to use?

Yep, 100% legit. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to call you back. It's just a time-saver.

Listen up, cause I've been down this road before. Here's what you need to know: 1. Be honest about your financial situation. They've heard it all before. 2. Have a realistic payment plan in mind before you call. They might negotiate, but it helps to have a starting point. 3. If you can't pay in full, consider an Offer in Compromise. It's like settling for less than you owe, but it's not easy to qualify. 4. KEEP RECORDS OF EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every payment. Trust me on this one. 5. Don't ignore any IRS notices. That'll only make things worse. 6. Consider getting a tax professional to help you. Sometimes it's worth the extra cost. Remember, the IRS agents are just doing their job. Be polite, be prepared, and you'll get through this. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! It's really helpful to have a game plan going in. Did you end up using a tax pro or did you handle it yourself?

I started off on my own, but ended up hiring a pro halfway through. For me, it was worth it for the peace of mind. But if you're organized and good with numbers, you might be able to handle it solo.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to pay our taxes? The system is broken af 🤡

Quick question - does anyone know if setting up a payment plan affects your credit score? I'm worried about that on top of everything else.

From what I understand, the payment plan itself doesn't affect your credit score. But if you have a tax lien, that definitely can. Best to ask the IRS agent directly tho.

Thanks for the info! That's a relief to hear. I'll make sure to double-check with the agent.

Pro tip: If you're having trouble reaching a human at the IRS, try calling right when they open in the morning. I've had better luck that way.

This! 💯 Also, avoid calling on Mondays or during lunch hours. Those are usually the busiest times.

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in accounting just to run a small business these days? Taxes are getting way too complicated smh

Preach! 🙌 I spend more time doing paperwork than actually running my business sometimes.

For real. I'm seriously considering hiring a bookkeeper next year. Can't keep up with all this stuff.
