It's not a miracle - it just gets you through the phone system. You still talk to the same IRS agents. But it saved me from the hold time nightmare. My refund came 3 days after I talked to someone.

Same here! I think they have some flag in the system that gets triggered when you call. My theory is they prioritize ppl who are actively following up.

Or maybee they just process refunds in batches and it's completely random timing 🤷‍♀️

On mine it was code 971 followed by a 846 with the refund amount. Also had a date next to it.

Code 971 is an Notice Issued code, and 846 is a Refund Issued code. If you see those together with recent dates, your refund is probably on the way!

570 means they're holding your refund for review. You should try to call them directly or use something like taxr.ai to analyze what's happening. It helped me understand when my return had a similar hold.

Have you tried calling the Taxpayer Advocate Service? They can help if your refund is significantly delayed beyond normal processing times.

I tried calling the advocate line but they said they're not taking new cases unless its a hardship. Might try that trace number OP mentioned
