MA State Tax Refund Stuck on RECEIVED Status - Anyone Seeing Movement?
Filed my Massachusetts state return 3 weeks ago and stuck on RECEIVED status. The tracker just says 'being processed' with no other info. Anyone else waiting? Has anyone gotten their MA refund recently?

I've been processing MA state tax returns for years, and this is pretty common right now. The MA DOR is experiencing significant delays due to increased fraud prevention measures. However, you can take a few steps to get more clarity. First, check if you have any outstanding tax issues from previous years. Then, verify all your documents were submitted correctly. I'd highly recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your documents - it's been super helpful for my clients to understand exactly where they are in the process and identify any potential holdups.

Tax specialist here - MA DOR is experiencing significant delays this year. Current processing time is averaging 4-6 weeks for electronic returns, 8-10 weeks for paper. As long as you see RECEIVED status, you're in the queue.

Hey there! I was in the same boat until I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It showed me exactly where my return was in the process and predicted my refund date with scary accuracy. Worth the $4.99 vs checking the tracker 100 times a day lol. https://taxr.ai

Been waiting 4 weeks myself and just stuck on "received" too 😤 The lack of transparency from MA DOR is so frustrating. At least with federal you get actual status updates. Has anyone tried calling recently or is that still a waste of time?

•Calling is definitely a waste of time right now - I waited 3+ hours last week just to get disconnected 😡 But honestly, try taxr.ai if you haven't already. I was skeptical at first but it actually gave me way more insight into my return status than the MA website ever did. At least then you'll know if there's an actual issue vs just normal processing delays.

•@Javier Torres totally feel you on the transparency thing! I m'at 5 weeks now and the MA website is basically useless. Ended up using that taxr.ai thing everyone s'mentioning and it actually showed me some codes I couldn t'see before. Still waiting but at least I know there s'no red flags 🤷♀️

Ugh same exact situation here! Filed my MA return on Jan 15th and it's been stuck on "received" status for over 3 weeks now. The MA DOR website is absolutely useless - just keeps saying "being processed" with no timeline or actual updates. Really wish they would give us better status tracking like the IRS does. Anyone know if there's a way to get more detailed info about what's actually happening with our returns? This waiting game is driving me crazy! 😩

•@Isaac Wright I totally get your frustration! I m'in the exact same boat - filed around the same time and stuck on that same useless received "status." The MA DOR website is seriously trash compared to the IRS system. I ve'been seeing everyone mention taxr.ai in this thread and finally tried it yesterday - honestly wish I had done it sooner! It actually broke down my return status way better than the official site and showed me there weren t'any issues, just normal processing delays. Worth the few bucks just for peace of mind instead of obsessively checking that broken MA tracker every day 😅

Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact same frustration last month! Filed my MA return on December 28th and it was stuck on "received" for almost 6 weeks. I was checking that useless MA DOR tracker multiple times a day and getting nowhere. Finally broke down and tried taxr.ai after seeing it mentioned here so much - honestly it was a game changer! It showed me my return was actually progressing normally through their system, just with zero visibility on their public tracker. Got my refund 3 days after taxr predicted it would arrive. Definitely worth the small fee to stop the anxiety of not knowing what's happening! Hang in there everyone - they're just really backed up this year 💪

•Thanks for sharing your experience @Mei Liu! This gives me so much hope - I'm at week 4 now and was starting to panic that something was wrong with my return. The MA DOR website really is terrible compared to other states. I keep seeing everyone mention taxr.ai so I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and try it too. Better than driving myself crazy checking that useless tracker every hour 😅 Did you have to upload your transcript or just your return documents?
