Looking at IRS transcripts right now - Will they update tonight? Need help understanding what I'm seeing
Been watching my transcripts like a hawk. Filed back in February and I see some codes but don't really understand what they mean. Anyone know if transcripts update tonight and what these random numbers even mean? Starting to feel like I need a PhD in IRS-ology to figure this out 😤

Transcripts typically update every Thursday night/Friday morning between midnight and 3am EST. But not everyone's updates at the same time. Without seeing your specific codes, it's hard to tell what's happening with your return. Could you share what codes you're seeing?

570 is a hold on your account and 971 means they sent you a notice. Check your mail in the next few days - they'll explain what info they need from you

However, not seeing an update doesn't mean nothing's happening - processing continues behind the scenes. The best way to understand your specific situation is to use tools like taxr.ai which can analyze your transcript and give you a clear timeline. Much better than the guessing game we're all playing here. I recommend it to all my clients now.
