IRS refund delay - weeks of waiting. What can I do to speed it up?
Hey everyone, I'm getting frustrated with my tax refund delay. It's been weeks and I still haven't received anything. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if I should check my IRS transcript or if there's anything else I can do to speed up the process. Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve IRS transcript checking for refunds, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvlIjoqpqEw

Ugh, I feel you. I've been waiting for my refund for over a month now. It's so annoying! Have you tried checking the 'Where's My Refund' tool on the IRS website? That's usually my first stop.

Yeah, I've checked that tool like a million times 😫 It just says 'processing' every time. So frustrating!

Definitely check your IRS transcript! It's way more detailed than the 'Where's My Refund' tool. You can see if there are any hold codes or if they've made adjustments to your return. Here's how to access it: 1. Go to IRS.gov 2. Click on 'Get Transcript Online' 3. Create an account or log in 4. Choose 'Tax Return Transcript' for the current year Look for any codes like 570 (hold on account) or 971 (notice issued). These could explain the delay.

Wow, thank you so much! I had no idea about this. I'll definitely check it out right away.

This is solid advice. The transcript has saved me from so much anxiety in the past!

Quick question - do you need any special info to create an account on the IRS site?

{profile 5} You'll need your SSN, date of birth, filing status, and mailing address from your last tax return. They'll also ask for some financial account numbers for verification.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sometimes these delays can take forever. I waited 3 months for mine last year. The IRS is seriously understaffed and overworked. Hang in there!

Have you tried calling the IRS directly? I know it's a pain, but sometimes you can get more info that way.

I've tried, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever 😩

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

Sometimes refund delays happen if there are errors on your return or if it gets flagged for identity verification. Did you claim any credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit? Those can slow things down too.

No, I didn't claim any special credits. Just a standard return as far as I know. Maybe I should double-check for errors?

Couldn't hurt to review your return. If you find any errors, you might need to file an amended return (Form 1040-X). But def check your transcript first before doing anything drastic.

Has anyone else noticed that the refunds seem to be slower every year? I swear it used to be faster back in the day. Is it just me or is the system getting worse? 🤔

Nah, it's not just you. The IRS is dealing with budget cuts and outdated technology. It's a whole mess 😩

Yep, and don't forget the pandemic backlog. They're still catching up from that chaos.

Just a heads up, if you're really in need of the money, you might want to look into the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help if your refund delay is causing financial hardship. It's a free service provided by the IRS.

Oh, I've never heard of that before. Thanks for the tip! I'll look into it if things don't improve soon.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get our own money back? The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

Preach! 🙌 It's our money, not theirs. The government is basically giving itself an interest-free loan every year.

Totally agree. And don't even get me started on how complicated they make the tax code. It's like they want us to mess up 🙄
