IRS refund delay: Put on hold for an hour, then line went dead. Any tips to actually reach a human?
I've been waiting for my refund for months now and I'm getting really frustrated. I tried calling the IRS today and was put on hold for almost an hour before the line just went dead. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to actually get through to a real person?

•Same here! I feel like I'm just shouting into the void every time I call. Anyone know if there's a better time of day to try?

•I heard early morning is best, like right when they open. But who knows, it's all a crapshoot tbh

Have you tried checking your refund status online? Sometimes that can give you more info without having to deal with the phone nightmare.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

•It's legit! They use some kind of AI to navigate the phone menus and detect when a human picks up. Then it calls you. Saved me hours of hold time.

•$20 just to talk to the IRS? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic government services 😡

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting hours on hold. This way I could actually get stuff done while waiting for the call.

Pro tip: If you're calling about a refund, make sure you have all your docs ready. They'll ask for stuff like your social, filing status, exact refund amount, etc. Makes the call go way smoother if you're prepared.

•This! 💯 I learned this the hard way and had to call back. Such a waste of time.

Anyone else notice how the IRS seems to be extra slow this year? I filed in February and still nothing. Starting to wonder if my return got lost in the void...

•I heard they're super backlogged because of all the stimulus stuff from last year. Might be why everything's taking forever.

•Yep, filed in March and crickets so far. Feels like we're all in the same sinking boat 🚢

Here's what I've learned after dealing with the IRS for way too long: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it sucks. 2. Use the online tools when possible. Sometimes they have more up-to-date info than the agents. 3. If you do get through, be super nice to the agent. They're probably as frustrated as we are. 4. Keep detailed records of every call - date, time, who you talked to, what they said. 5. If you're really stuck, consider reaching out to your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help push things along. 6. As a last resort, contacting your congressional representative can sometimes light a fire under them. Hope this helps someone. We're all in this mess together!

Has anyone tried faxing? I know it sounds ancient, but I've heard some people have had luck getting responses that way.

•I know, right? But desperate times call for desperate measures. If it works, it works!
